Round 293

OOC: OK, here's a CR 6 monster that will want to hang around for a few rounds.

An elegant woman with raven hair and brown skin moves to 5N110E. She wears a mithral chain shirt and has a short bow in her hands. Two scimitars are attached to her belt, one on each side of her.

She grows to 10 feet tall. She is now large size and her position is 0N110E.

Rusty is at 60N60E25Z and can breathe in round 297.

Charge the fighter with bite if I am going the right direction, landing at 10N105E.

Does knowledge (planes) give Rusty any information about what he is fighting?

Rusty was facing due east, so I don't think he can charge out of a hover unless it was in that direction.

Rusty doesn't know jack about the fighter.

He will just fly normally without the charge, then, and still landing at 10N105E. His roll to hit is 21, for 4 points of damage, and the fighter has to make a DC16 Reflex save or her armor falls to pieces. Rusty's frightful presence (MM page 69) has a Will save with a DC of 12, so Janni-lady might have to make two saving throws.

Round 294

The woman doesn't seem to be scared (rolled 17 Will save), and her armor survives. (Rolled 18 Ref save) She does take the damage and has 38 hp left.

The woman steps to 0N105E, drops her bow, pulls out one of her scimitars, and hacks.

The roll is 20 to hit for 11 points of damage. The scimitar is magical, so no DR. The scimitar rolls a 18 Ref save against rusting scales. If the save is Fort instead, then the result is 20.

OOC: Rust dragons do not get rusting scales until Wyrm. :)

OOC: Oh, no wonder. I started to remember that it was no save except for a +5 weapon!
How could a 4th level group of PC's beat Rusty if that was the case?
