log-out issues

for the powers that be: i've been logged out of the boards two or three times during the past 20 minutes or so of surfing and posting. i haven't changed any of my settings, cookies are enabled, all that. as i've flitted about into different forums, i've noticed that suddenly i'm no longer logged-in. anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?

What URL are you using to get here? If it has cyberstreet in it, that's the problem. In that case, delete the bookmark and your cookies, come to enworld.org, log in and bookmark it again. You should be fine.

If, on the other hand, your URL does not have cyberstreet in it, I can't help you.

Twice in the past three days I have come in through a link on the main page and they have turned out to be booby-trapped cyberstreet links.

I bet other people are hitting the same trap.

Is there any way to make certain that good links are placed on the main page?

I think I see the problem, did you come to the forums by hitting a link to the forums on a news item? Like say, the item yesterday about Mongoose Product Details?

Anyway, I just noticed that those hyperlinks contain cyberstreet urls, so that's definitely a problem.

yeah john, i think that was the problem. usually i enter the forums through the messageboards link on the front page, but occasionally i'll follow a direct link to a thread from the news. thanks to you [and buttercup] for getting to the bottom of this mystery!

Thanks for keying us into this mystery. I had been putting catestrophic links on the news page and was not even noticing it. Hopefully, it won't be a problem now.

I'm having difficulties too. I can log in, but after each post, I'm immediately logged back out again. For a while, I wasn't even able to do that much, but after requesting help from the nice people at the Realms of Evil messageboards, I followed their advice and cleared my cookies and I can at least log in again now- albeit for a catastrophically short amount of time.

This isn't because of the cyberstreet glitch, either- I go straight to "enworld.org/forums" every time- I just can't seem to maintain the logged-in state any longer than it takes to post. This is a relatively new development, within the past month-and-a-half at the longest (I'd be more specific, except I have a tendancy to lurk, so I don't know exactly when this started happening). Before that, I could stay logged in indefinately so long as I visited ENWorld often.

What gives? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there anything I can do to correct this annoying problem?
