Logic behind sales of "Expedition to Castle Greyhawk"?

That's how advetures should be set up. I do mine in a similar way, except for maps in my documents. I hate flipping pages in a module.

It's certainly an easy-to-use interface. However, there are two key weaknesses I've seen:

1) The Delve format takes up a huge amount of space, such that what was once a 32-page module may well now be 64 or even 96 pages.

2) The format seems to be quite limiting on the types of encounters that can readily be expressed with it. It handles static self-contained encounters really well, but would appear to have problems with multi-room and conditional encounters (such as when the guards re-arrange their disposition in the dungeon in response to PC incursion). This, of course, may be because the designers have not yet figured out how to do everything they want to do with the format.

Of it is just more lip service?

Joe, failure to make decision processes 100% transparent to the public is not standard procedure in the business world. So stop talking as if you should be able to expect it, and can claim duplicity or lies when you don't get it. That kind of insinuation is unfair, and a great disincentive for these folks to come and talk with us. So please cut it out.

Folks here will treat each other with respect.

I would argue that the "two setting" notion is incorrect since currently we support Forgotten Realms, Eberron, & Dragonlance (licensed to MWP). Core D&D should be considered a setting as well just on the sheer amount of content. There is a belief that TSR in the 2nd edition days over-saturated the market with settings that split the market into to many smaller customer groups but that was with 9 plus settings. There is no belief that the rule is "2 only".

Now does that mean every setting gets a setting 300 page campaign setting book, 12 supplements a year, plus adventures? No. But there certainly is a room to provide varying levels of support.

When we have discussions about settings support Greyhawk is usually on the table.

Did you read this reply Umbran? If this isn't the old shell game I don't know what is. The poster he is replying brought up some excellent points which were summarily dismissed with yes we do support Greyhawk BS. If discussions about setting support for Greyhawk have usually been on the table for the last 8 years how does nothing get done in that time? Its hard to imagine a meeting that takes place once a month or even once a quarter for eight years that Greyhawk was brought up everytime and yet got nothing published. Sorry, but I am not buying that bridge in Florida. I for one am glad someone had the stones to call BULLCRAP when they read it.

Remember that there are quite a few Greyhawk fans who don't play Living Greyhawk. I don't because I don't like the RPGA. There are 3 reasons for this: 1) You can't join the RPGA unless you go to conventions. 2) I went to a convention and played in some games, but my membership never got processed. 3) I had some bad DM experiences with RPGA games at the one RPGA-attended convention I went to.

I can't be alone in this. I imagine there are lots of gamers who aren't in the RPGA. Many of those are Greyhawk fans, or would be if they had access to the materials.

Not to sound rude but don't talk about things you know nothing about, this miffs me a little. It feel like words are being put in ours mouths.

The cancellation of Dragon and Dungeon magazines was not a statement on Greyhawk. It was a statement on how to run a business.

We give away for free more Greyhawk content through the RPGA than most other companies publish in for sale product every year. We also spend more time, effort and money running the Living Greyhawk for the RPGA than any other setting or even D&D minis. To put that into perspective we put more time/money support into LG than the rest of the D&D gaming line combined.

We know how many people play LG and we have a good idea of the market size for the setting. We don't sit around creating plots to screw over Greywhawk fans. Quite the contrary most discussion around the setting focus on how we can make it a viable for sale product line.

Yes Expedition to The Ruins of Greyhawk is a test but it is not the end all be all factor determining support/future products for the setting

Please. Everything you guys say and do is meant to drum up support for products. Little comments regarding the future success of a product line are hinted at all the time.

And I wasn't talking about Living Greyhawk. Believe it or not, there are many who have no interest in the RPGA. I was talking about Greyhawk. Don't act coy and pretend there isn't a difference.

And after six eight years of nothing from Wizards, I can gripe about whatever I please.

It's easy to imagine.

"Maybe we should bring Greyhawk back?"
"Nope, numbers still don't allow for it."
"Aw, damn. You know how much I like Greyhawk. Oh, well, I'll try again later. What's next?"

And even if that weren't the case, Scott's not the guy who makes the decisions. Distaste for the message gives you no right to be rude to the messenger.

Wow. So these are the Greyhawk Flamewars people told me about. Very interesting. I haven´t read something with so much self-righteous aggression in in a long time. If people talked to each other about stuff instead of snarking around and feeling good about it, MAYBE then there could be talk about Greyhawk. As in, you know, constructive. :\
