I'm not an old schooler (I don't think), but the answer is E-N-T.
 

Forgot to explain why:

(T)wo
(T)hree
(F)our
(F)ive
(S)ix
(S)even
(E)ight
(N)ine
(T)en

It took me a second to get it. I was trying to figure out some alphabet-numeric system after that big number one!

The hokey-pokey, for those of you who ever played this :). I don't think that's the answer, but it fits pretty well!

Augh, the true answer yet eludes!
 

One more as I head for lunch...

One fine morning, Bob celebrated his (Bob's) birthday.

Two days afterward, Tom, his older twin brother, celebrated his (Tom's) birthday.

They were born the 28th of february and the 1st of march on either side of midnight in a non-leap year, and this is a leap year.

Lunch, you say, here it is almost midnight !!!
