Logic Questions

I think != only has meaning in some programming languages (AFAIK), so I'm guessing the answer to be when it equals zero/false.

Here's an easy one to give people a reprieve from that mathematics logic puzzle:

I am the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space, the beginning of the end, and the end of every race. What am I?

Steele,
It is an explenation but not the explaination. Allow me to rephrase.

When, in base 10, is 2 + 2 != 4?

Um...you can have two fathers and two sons together and still only have 3 people?

(One person plus his father and grandfather)

Correct!

Here's another puzzle. I'm doing this from memory, so forgive me if I butcher it somewhat:

While I was heading to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives
Each of that man's seven wives
Had there in sacks seven knives
For every knife they had in sacks
They also carried seven bats
Following each of those bats
There were crawling seven cats
Cats, bats, knives, wives
How many were headed to St. Ives?

I'd say only one. The narrative only specifically mentions that "I" was heading to St. Ives. Everything else is just people I met on the way. Nothing says that they were headed there as well.

Edit: seasong beat me to it!

Easy. When it's being worn by a ballet dancer. After all, 2 + 2 = tutu.
