LOL, Ashlee Simpson at the Orange bowl...

Those are not people. That's a mob, and a mob is collectively dumber than your average human.

Why? Because it was a football game? Did you actually listen to her performance?

But dumb enough to like her ditzy sister, Jessica.

Well at least she can sing.

What is this fascination with dumb blondes?

I can't imagine.

So Howard is still on! For some reason, he's not on around here. I remember him saying something about being pulled on the York/Lancaster station

He got pulled off the stations owned by Citadel, which included Providence, some cities in PA and NY, and a few others I think.

I heard he is not moving to sat. radio until his current contract with whatever station he is on now up

Correct. I'm not exactly sure when but I thought it was later this year or early next. And his contract is with Viacom, not any specific radio station.

I've never really known large crowds of football fans to have any class at all. That said, I think it was extremely inappropriate for them to boo her. By booing her, they were automatically booing all the dancers, costume makers, choreographers, lighting people, stagehands, and musicians as well. So that was unfortunate. I didn't hear her entire song, but the last part didn't sound that bad. I wonder how many people in the audience could have gotten up and done a better job?

Don't get me wrong, I'm fairly certain she's a no-talent hack who's riding on the coattails of her sister, and her career will be over soon enough, but booing people at a major sporting event is just like school on Saturday - no class.

HA HA HA

but she's hot...who cares. as far as those fans, they (about 50%) were just pissed off that OU was losing really really badly :) :D

Ughhh they were playing this all over the radio's the day after would hear it on one station only to switch on hear it on the next torture I tell you.

In her defense I think that she is an ok singer just hit or miss. She came to Indy and had a guitar player break two strings so she did a little acapella thingy and sounded good. Though this is the only time I have heard her sound good. I hated the show, but I agree that mobs are just rude and I agree with the ranger and DK crowds and mobs are just jackasses in general I don't think anyone would have screamed boo or you suck if they were the only one's in the stands. Yepp crowds are when the cowards come out.

Look, as a musician myself, if you are bad, you're bad. If people boo, there is a reason. As hard as it is for some people to admit, the masses are the best judges. They are the customers. So this talk about "stupid football fans" is really a cop-out and quite ignorant. Those same fans would cheer a good singer/halftime show.

If you are going to be singer and perform at halftime, you have to be prepared for the consequences. And oftentimes, you only get one chance. You know what? Tough. Careers can be broken with one bad performance. Look at Millee Vanillee (sp?). Ashlee is still paying for her SNL fiasco.

Ashlee Simpson is a product of digital studio wizardry. Simple as that. Is she an awdul singer? Maybe not. But performing live (especially outdoors) is what separates the musicians from the hand-picked pop princesses.

The problem that many of the pop artists never hone their craft by performing live. They are made in a sterile environment. Take them out of that environment, and the true colors shine. Hence, the use of backing tracks, backup singers (who definitely CAN sing), and the granddaddy of them all, lip-syncing.

The problem with that argument is that a large percentage of appreciation of music, and any other art form really, is highly subjective and relates to personal taste.

Imagine now a good ol' boy from the south riding in a car with his friend who happens to be a dirty south hardcore kid.

The hardcore kid throws in a Norma Jean CD and the good old boy quickly takes it out because he can't stand that 'durn racket'.

Then the good old boy starts playing whatever it is country music has turned into these days and the hardcore kid just turns the radio off because he couldn't stand the music.

Which of these are "bad" artists? In my opinion, they both are because I can't stand modern pop country and I think Norma Jean is one of the worst thing to ever happen to the undeground music scene. However, both pop country and Norma Jean style fashionXcore have legions of devoted followers who believe they are the best artists ever.

Again, to a large extent, music is subjective and once we all realize that, the world is a happier place.

As a lighting tech, I can tell you that I would not take such booing personaly. A mob like that dosen't give a pokemon's tail about the techs. I like to keep it that way. ;)

Briliant! I hope you people were paying attention.

You know, Bob Dylan really couldn't sing worth a damn, but that's okay. He didn't pretend to be a "singer". Similar story with, say, Violent Femmes. The moral is that you don't have to be perfect to perform, but don't try to be "all that" with something you are pretty terrible at.
