Lone Wolf II: The Lakuri Gambit (MS 5022)

"Well a good fool you be!" says Hoagar, licking the plate. Fighting made him hungry. "Yes we wish to go with you to the Rymrift... and how much would that be?"

Andrew: Did I pick up anything suspicious with Sixth Sense since we entered the tavern? Also, still wondering about the answer to the ranged weapon question in post #7 in this thread. Thanks! :D
Moon's Brand chooses her words carefully, for she has no intention of becoming involved in a jailbreak scheme, nor does she wish to offend the pirate by overstepping her bounds. "What would be involved in getting his blessing, then? Would we be having to visit him in the city jail, or just get a message to him? How long are they planning to hold him here, anyway?"

Skimmer grins at the dwarf's words and inclines his head towards Moon's Brand. "Captain Kazan's due to be executed on the morrow. But," he casts his head back towards the men, "the others ain't be knowin' this. If'n ye want to be kind and gentle souls and spring 'im, or if'n ye want to just give him the message, I leave that to you. We can just place the blood on Torrost's hands, as it were. These crew've changed captains enough before. Once more won't hurt." He smiles broadly as he says this. "Either way, we're knowin' a secret way to get ye into Torrost's citadel."

Relenoir:
[sblock]Just the range increase on Weaponskill. You picked up nothing suspicious beyond the hidden weapons you'd expect here in a fairly rough tavern.[/sblock]

"Look at it this way: Overlord Torrost is not exactly famed for being a fair and just ruler. Law is only as noble and good as the people administering it ..." Jesabela voices, glancing at Moon's Brand. "Maybe we should at least have a good look at the good Captain before leaving him to his fate?" And of course it cannot hurt to have the captain who's taking us down the Rymerift in our debt ...

Jesabela flashes him a cocky smile. "Life is adventure or nothing, Master Longbeard! How can we truly tell whether we are alive when we are spending all day in a rocking chair? ... Alone, that is?" she adds with a mischievous grin.

"Well," says Moon's Brand after a moment's thought, "I suppose it can't hurt to have a look, so long as this 'secret' way in is really as secret as it's supposed to be." Moon's Brand hates admitting it, but realizes that getting the captain back may be the only way to gain enough favor with the crew to safely reach their goal. "What did the captain do to wind up drawing a death-sentence?" she asks. Having always heard the worst of things about Ragadorn, she half-expects to hear an offense that would land a man a month in jail in Sommerlund.

Going away for the weekend and first half of next week, so I won't be posting until Wednesday or so because. . .
I'm going to the Super Bowl!!!
GO NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS!!!

"Not a thing, m'lady," the pirate says. "Not beyond showing up in a port where the local lord's put a death sentence on your head." He grins, showing a gap-filled row of teeth. "The way's on a beach near the citadel. A tunnel which comes out in the dungeons under the fortress. That's where the cap'n is. If you're ready and willing, we'll be takin' you there."

"Well, let's be on our way then. The sooner we get out of Ragadorn, the better!" Moon's Brand exclaims. The scent of this foul city is suffocating her.
Moon's Brand will use her Sixth Sense levels to keep alert for hiding and lurking dangers and individuals during our jail infiltration.
I'm off to Jacksonville, catch you all Wednesday. GO PATRIOTS!!!

Skimmer nods and leads you into the streets once more. He leads you past the imposing structure of the Overlord's fortress, and to the shadow of the city walls. He runs his hands along the wall and eventually finds a secret door, which he casts open. After passing through the portal, you find yourselves on a sloping bluff overlooking the sea. He casts his eyes back and forth. "No watchers. Good."

The pirate sets off down the slope. It is easy going, and after a moment you find yourselves on the shore below. As you progress northward along the beach, the bluffs grow sharper and more jagged, and soon you find yourselves looking up a horizontal cliff-face nearly 100 feet high, all of it bare stone, at a dark structure -- the Overlord's palace. Skimmer says nothing at first, but merely walks towards the wall. And then in. He sticks his head and arms back out.

"Come on then, this is the way in. Carved out by the Ice Barbarians, they say, during one of their raids, masked by a powerful Kaltese sorcerer, and now appropriated by the Lakuri. This tunnel'll lead you right into the cellars of the palace, where you'll find our cap'n."
