Look Ma- Rules Updates!

As for dwarves, they really do have a lot of good racial feats that pump up their fighter ability, on top of the best of the best class features for it. Dwarf was already a gold choice for fighter. Someone is now going to have to invent a new color to describe just how good dwarves are at that class.

I vote for puce :)

Also, RE: all the "swordmages got hosed" comments. The swordmage's job is to defend, not dole out damage. So when the swordmage is at level 30 and dealing 3 less points of damage than he used to be able to (presumably with only some of his powers), why should you care?

Yes, this change is unfortunate for them, but I think folks are getting a bit more upset about this than is warranted.

I like these changes overall. It's interesting how they focused so much on "fixing" the Wizard -- almost as if they learned some lessons and committed to getting it right this time.

Sure it does. A turn is when your initiative comes up until the end of all your actions(i.e. from the beginning of a turn step until the end of turn step). There's actually a number of things that are limited per turn: Free Attacks, Opportunity Actions, and now sneak attacks.

Sorry, I thought they meant the old Turn, 10 rounds. I though that is how sneak attack always worked, you could do it once per round.

It was once per round. Now once per (each creature's) turn, so you can use it in an opportunity attack.

Assault swordmages are very striker-y. The Weapon Focus change (and that neither the Heavy Blade nor Light Blade weapon training feats work for implement powers) does hose swordmages. I mean, I suppose you can MC to a class that grants staff implement proficiency and be a staffmage now, but that's kind of silly. At least they've got Intelligent Blademaster, so the Melee Training change doesn't hose them too.

Indeed. This is a subtle but profound change. Being able to do sneak attack damage with OAs, or when say a Warlord gives you a free attack out of turn, is pretty good.

I know how the devs can end the swordmage whining...

Add a +1/+2/+3 feat bonus to attack and damage with light and heavy blade weapon and implement attacks to Intelligent Blademaster.

That way, Swordmages would have to take one feat and be done with it.

Sure they're striker secondary. But they're defender primary. Weakening a classes secondary role by 3 points of damage by epic tier with some of its powers does not sound like "hosed" to me.

The irony of that is that Strength is a secondary stat for them anyways, so the ones most likely to make basic attacks (Assault) is already covered, both by strength primary, and by the powers they have that can be used as OAs.
