Looking for Farmer (scythe) build advice

Understandable, but if you do drop the scythe for VoP, I'd recommend Ascetic Hunter Monk 1/Ranger X and trade Combat Style for Wild Shape. For some reason, every build I can think up without armor has monk in it.

I'm terrible at building barbarians without a chain shirt.

I need to come up with a character for next weeks game, and am looking for some advice on how to build him.

I started out with a concept, and I'm trying to make sure this one has a bit of a survival chance.

...

By that, I mean I want to create a fighter type with little to no armor, and whose main weapons are the Scythe and the Sickle. (and maybe other farm implements? like pitchfork or something?)

personality:shy and non-threatening but able to stand his ground in a fight.

For classes, I want to go for little or no spellcasting, I'm thinking Barbarian (for the rage), Fighter (for the feats) or possibly even Hexblade or something like that.

...

hmm, I don't think I could do a shy, non threatening barbarian...

but, if you wanted a light armor, in your face, spit on you when you are dead barbarian, I would go with the following :

DWARF BARBARIAN !!!

10th level character so 2 ability score bumps gives you:
if you are 12th, put the last one on strength

Abilities: 15/13/22/13/13/11

Classes:

Barbarian 4, Fighter 4, Deepwarden 2

Feats: Endurance, Power Attack, Cleave, Improved Critical, Wep Focus, Wep Spec. and Reckless Rage

Skills: Deepwarden requires a lot, but easy to do with a 13 int

ac with no armor or buffs: 16
get a friendly mage to cast greater mage armor on you to bump to 22

average hp without raging, or buffs: 131

My friend Keith played a dwarf bezerker who never wore armor, and this is similar to his build, it was a very fun character to game with, and as you can see, the build doesn't suck from a combat standpoint, especially in a low magic world.

Hope this helps,

Athos

If you want a more IC toon since 'personality:shy and non-threatening but able to stand his ground in a fight' doesn't come across and barb I'd say fighter/rogue or fighter/monk and follow the logical evolution from that.
