Looking for Programs

I'm looking for a couple good free or cheap programs for making paps and designing NPCs. I have heromachine but I find its not flexable enough for what I'm looking for.

any ideas?

For maps, there is always Autorealm, which is free. And for NPCs, you could do worse than giving PCGen (also free) a look.

I'm looking for map character portrait editors... not NPC/PC generators.

You see, I actually play WFRP, I just know this is a really good site to ask questions at because there's a ton of people...

I should have been more clear. I'm looking for a not-hero-machine Portrait Generator and a map maker.

I think that the best cheap one you can get is the Hero machine. That is at least until WotC gets their character visualizer out, and even then we have to wait and see if it is worth whatever it will cost. I do hope one can buy the visualizer in itself and not have to pay the subscription every month to use only it. As it seems so far, it is the only digital content I'm looking forward to. So sorry, I've been looking for portrait generator for couple of years now and haven't found anything good for cheap.

I know what you mean. The problem IMHO with Hero Machine is the gross lack of facial options. Most of them are too silly to use without having your character look ridiculous, and thats not even getting into the fact that you're limited to one shape of head.

Yeh. It is quite limited. Do you use the original or HM2? I suggest getting both as they both have a lot of features the other doesn't. Also have you tried their new online HM2.5.
