Looking for suggestions on books and anime

Hello All,

I am looking for a new series of books to read and thought I would ask for opinions from people on the message boards. If anyone has a suggestion please respond.

I am looking for something in the fantasy genre, but lost track of everything that is out there and not sure what is good.

Also if anyone has any ideas on anime. Not looking for this as much, but if people have ides please share.

books on fantasy? Read the warhammer series by GW, you won't be dissapointed.


Anime? I just got done with a anime fest and here is what I liked:

Cowboy Bebop
Gundam
Neon Genesis Evangalion
Spriggan
Beserk
Outlaw Star
Macross Plus



That names a bunch of my fav. Cowboy Bebop and NGE are my 2 favs right now with Spriggan coming a close 3rd as they are the most 'real' type of anime out there as they don't seem to 'pokemonish' to me.

ps. If you want a total mind twist. Watch all 26 episode of NGE, ignore the final episode of the series, and watch the movie. DO NOT, i repeat, WATCH THE MOVIE FIRST! Doing so causes you to wonder "WTH is this all about?" and nothing makes sense. Start from the beginning and work your way through it. It all makes sense in time..

As for books, the Black Company series by Glen Cook (starting with The Black Company, surprisingly enough), any of Harry Turtledove's alternate histories, and Orson Scott Card's Alvin Maker series.

For anime, I too suggest Neon Genesis Evangelion (the TV series is out, and both movies are coming soon!). Also, check out Trigun, Gasaraki, Those Who Hunt Elves, Record of Lodoss War (either TV or OVA), and Ranma 1/2.

Record of Lodoss War, Slayers, and Neon Genesis Evangelion are all very good.

I agree with the recommendations for Cowboy Beebop. Another good series is 'Serial Experiments Lain' . And, of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention 'Urotsukidoji' or 'La Blue Girl' if you were looking for something a little more, well, err...extreme. .

I can recomend some anime. Some good ones are Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Of those listed my favorite two are Cowboy Bebop and Trigun with Outlaw Star a close third.

Have you read all the classics? Tolkien, Moorcock, Leiber, Vance, Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, etc.?

How about the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey or the Deryni series by Katherine Kurtz?
