Looking for Trouble [Orsal Judging][Concluded]

"No, Sir, discretion is expected of me. And now I must be going...."

He turns his horse and heads off into the woods at a trot.

Richard watches the whole exchange with a detached interest, he seems to be looking around, as though he expects an ambush. His attempt to look casual defeated by his eyes jerking towards any sound.

Only when the 'knight' rides away does the young man drop his 'casual' observance and speak loud and clear, "This fellow, you know him? More importantly, if he is in the employ of a necromancer, what is our next course of action?"

Richard lets the various implications hang in the air, looking from face to face. His whole body still aches mildly from the beating he took, but he's used to pain... the faded scars on his face, neck and arms attest to that.

Lucien makes his way over to his gear and begins gathering them up. "It is clear that he and his master have plans to use those things, and the only use they have is for evil. The ogres will be destroyed, and if he tries to prevent that then he will be destroyed as well."

"No, Sir, discretion is expected of me. And now I must be going...."

Rowan extends his hand as the knight speaks. "Well, nice to see you again, Sir Revenir." he says, hoping for a parting handshake.

If the knight shakes his hand [sblock] Rowan will attempt to initiate a grapple. He'll grip tightly with his right, and try to grab the knight's wrist with his left hand. Then he'll try to pull the knight off his horse.[/sblock]

If the knight declines a parting handshake, Rowan will allow him to ride off, feeling dispirited.

You find a fairly secure campsight nearby. At the very least, if the Zombie Ogres find you, you believe you'll have some advanced warning in which to flee or prepare to fight. It's a little riskier, but you'll be able to resume your pursuit a lot sooner.

As the party continues to rest throughout the next day, you observe a mounted figure in heavy armor moving through the woods. He seems to be looking for something, possibly examining the tracks you made on your way into camp.

Rowan is fully armored, despite his rest. Upon seeing the mounted figure, he calls for the group to gather. He stands and takes hold of his guisarme. He is not afraid of a single man. Perhaps he will help them. "Ho there!" he shouts.

The man looks up, startled for a moment by the hail.

I wasn't as explicit as I should have been, but your first assumption was right: He's at a distance much more apropriate for shouting than for handshakes (or grapple attempts.) Specifically, he's 200' away down the hill away from your campsight across uneven and mostly difficult terrain... the good view of aproaches and difficult terrain were part of why you decided that this particular campsight was secure. While somewhat jovial from this distance, Sir Revenir doesn't trust you, and has especially been looking about to try to determine if Boog is nearby. There's no way you can get close enough to him to initiate a grapple unless you first engage in a significant pursuit.

OOC: OK. No problem.

"Well." says Rowan, turning to the others. "He's clearly one of them. But he would be hard to capture, and even if we did capture him, he'd be unlikely to talk. I've met him before when he was working with some necromancer to turn people into werewolves. He's scum, and I'm going to mess him up when I get a chance."

"Still, I'm for resting for the remainder of the day. Then setting out in the morning to pursue the zombies. Perhaps everyone else is healthier than me, though & would want to pursue this knight. If so, I'm with you."

ooc: Is that what you thought was going on? :) Getting access to a lycanthrope was only the first part in a multi part plan far nastier than simply turning people into werewolves. Rowan was in such a hurry to rescue his brother that no one made a significant effort to question the bad guys, even when Sir Revelir was completely under Boog's control.

OOC: Well, I'm glad you're getting a chance to recycle the plot thread! Rowan's not supposed to be a thinker; that's what Iggy's for.
