Looking to commission art...

Excellent idea. Unfortunately, there aren't local cons at this time of year, and I need to consider the lead time for the artist and then also getting patches made. Thus coming online to check.

And, you know just wanting to support my community. If there's an artist on the site (or a short hop from it) who wants a few bucks, all the better, right?
Sure! But thinking about it reminded me that I met Erica Henerson, C. J. Henderson's daughter, at DexCon here in NJ probably between one and two decades ago. Sadly, I don't have contact info that would be recent. I would have commented this yesterday, but was sent down a nostalgia spiral looking her up!

Once upon a time, I could have helped. But I haven’t done anything pro-level in decades.

Be sure to ask anyone who says no (politely) if they know of anybody else who might be interested or might know someone. Networking is your friend!

Also seconding @Celebrim ’s idea. I have recommended checking out the university/college/community college art departments & local art institutes to clients seeking things like album covers on a tight budget.

Student are definitely a good idea and it can be a very beneficial thing for them.

Some years back I needed a new LARP constume for a specific character I was going to be playing, and one of my friends had a sister who was studying costume design at university. So my costume requirement became the subject of one of her assignments - she made an inspiration board for it and everything! I paid for her materials and she had an interesting subject for work she was going to do anyway. The costume was great and very authentic (it was an Ars Magica based LARP so set in Mythic Europe).
