[sblock=OOC]If it's okay for Thorn and Minharath to switch order, since Thorn took out the dude in the middle of the room, Minharath could go straight across and not worry about G18/G19 being difficult terrain[/sblock]
Jumping is an athletics check. And jumping 3 squares would take a higher check than 10 (minimum 15, that's with a running start). Anyway, I don't like the idea of moving through the open center, as that makes me a target. I also don't like the idea of struggling and failing with athletics checks on a str-dump character in heavy armor. So unless I can politely request the debris to stand aside in the name of the Hearth Goddess, I'll probably be going another way.[sblock=Character order]
Sure, since Tomalak is playing both Thorn and Minharath Thorn goes first, killing the human and then Minharath can move straight through.
And for the Crates / Barrels / Warehouse stuff, yes these squares require an athletics check to move through, and is considered difficult terrain. Think of it this way, the athletics check (and a low one for that matter) is for physically overcoming the feature, and the rough terrain (double movement) represents, well, the fact that it is harder to move through that area.
That being said, there is nothing stopping you the player from creatively working around things like that. Take for instance difficult terrain. You could simply take a running jump and jump over it, thereby not incurring the extra movement associated with difficult terrain.
As a DM I always try and reward player creativity.
