D&D 5E (2024) Lorwyn: First Light has been released

The inflation over the last six years has been massive and lots of people haven't adjusted their internal price scales to match yet.
Especially older folks...like most of us.

It's one of those things where I realize that I've become my dad. I'll complain about the price of a slice of pizza or something and my kid will roll his eyes.

I try very hard to avoid that, or at least keep it in mind as a risk. I remember all too vividly the frustrating conversations with my grandfather who had zero clue as to the modern value of a dollar or what getting a job in the early 21st century entailed.

I'm already losing touch with the memes and music of today's youth. Working to stay current on the important things is a small but constant effort.

Pretty much as @Reynard said.

Like I said, I love epub for novels, but I have one or two books that were about fantasy map making and I found that epub just sucks for usability.
We are going to have to agree to differ on this one, though I have no doubt that the epub on cartography would probably work on a large enough screen, and the pdf is still unreadable on a small screen.

Oh, I agree. The sad thing is that I am aware of it but still occasionally find myself doing it. I mostly keep it internal, at least.

Oh yeah, for sure. I'm just saying what works for me, if epub works for you then that's all good.

I remember when $7 is what I'd pay for a burrito from the local Taco Truck. Now it's up to $11.50 for the most basic burrito option, and up to $16 for something fancy like a birria burrito. If I go out for a bowl of pho, it's $15 for a basic bowl and $17 for a large bowl.

The inflation over the last six years has been massive and lots of people haven't adjusted their internal price scales to match yet. To mangle a movie quote, $15 isn't a lot of money anymore.

I mean its hard to adjust your 'internal price scale' when your pay has not kept pace with said inflation.

There is no reason for costs to have ballooned when that money is not getting into the hands of the people putting forth the effort, and it sticks around with the C levels and investors.

Not to mitigate the fact that I'm getting older and crankier, but - in truth - my salary has increased far, far less than inflation and thus almost everything has become literately more expansive to me...

In the broad strokes I completely agree. But in the nitty gritty, some products are more clearly price gouging while others are at the mercy of increased supply and distribution costs and are running at the same thin margins they always were. And getting into the weeds as to why and wherefore and what's to be done is pretty definitely going to run afoul of the "No Politics" rule.

Everyone but the 1% are getting poorer, wealth inequality is the downfall of civilizations, and a slim $15 booklet is still barely more than a Big Mac and fries. All of the above can be true at once. For the price of one not particularly fancy meal, that's a decent amount of artistic product.

Yeah...to a point. Would I buy a $15 Shadowdark booklet? Yeah probably. Would I pay for the 'privilage' to gain access to a $15 online only, single platform, $15 Shadowdark 'product'?

Negative.
