No, they are not. They are in the same category for hobbyists, but D&D is not fighting for windshield in the public space with Runequest or Traveller.

I am not saying that $15 is necessarily a lot of money in absolute terms, but for this, yeah, it is way too much. That some sandwich costs $15 is besides the point, a $40 sandwich is also overpriced, even though a BluRay might cost $40, the two have nothing to do with each other. Something that costs $15 can be overpriced while something completely different that costs $100 can be very cheap.

I am sure you can find a $40 sandwich at a high place these days, and it may even be worth it. An optional hobby item that can provode months of entertainment overlapping in absolute price with a cheap sandwich lunch is 100% the point at hand in terms of the price being "predatory."

My fave coffee shop in Queens has been steadily increasing in price in the 3 years I've been visiting.
It's gotten to the point that if I guess a large latte, a cortado, and a croissant sandwich, it's costing me over $30.

This isn't just that coffee shop. It's prices across the board are climbing crazily. At least here in NYC.

But that has a warping effect on my judgment for the cost of digital supplements, I guess.

The $40 sandwich justifies it's price by the enjoyment given: you paybfor the labor and expertise. Same as a game book. And again, this game book is cheap sandwich prices, and after inflation half the price of the 12 page White Plume Mountain module TSR put out back in the day.

I've seen coffee prices in YouTube. Same price as here but your currency is 40% more than ours. Well we lose 40% last I looked.

Cheapest coffee is about $2.40 usd. That's at the supermarket or that 1 place special deal 7am-9am. $4 is more typical.

PHB costs around 12-13 coffees or 18-19 cheap ones.

About the same as 90s inflation adjusted. Way cheaper real terms.

Are you saying WotC is 3 times as good at making supplements as anyone else? I am pretty sure there are many people who disagree with that, and it is also not reflected in their full book print or digital prices... If not, then this is entirely in the eye of the beholder, with no comparison to alternatives, great.

At that point whether it is overpriced, cheap or anything else is all up to the individual and not something that can be established by comparing prices of other options, however relevant (other digital supplements) or irrelevant they may be (sandwiches, blu rays, lawnmowers). That isn't really how we generally establish a fair price for things...

I grant you that I do not think twice about buying a $15 sandwich, so I could also not think twice about these DLCs, but then a $15 sandwich is not far from the norm around here, but these DLCs are

Maybe. If not three times "better", then at least spending three times as much on production. High quality art, thorough proofreading and editing, professional layout, paying the writers on more than a shoestring budget... those costs all add up.

and they sell more than three times what others do, so those costs are distributed over a much larger number of sales, making the cost per unit lower than that of others, which is reflected in their 40% profit margin

In the case of other game company productss, the competition isn't an integrated virtual tabletop and character generator tool dynamically hyperlinked. A PDF is a different thing.
