Question - what sort of effects does heroine cause? I mean, more biologically rather than mentally. Does it cause rushes of adreniline or something to that effect? It could explain Ethan's strength and endurance in his fights if Ethan had access to some of the stash (either from the plane or from near the plane crash if some fell loose).

(Ethan being the guy that wasn't on the same flight as everyone else and was later trying to kidnap Claire and baby)

It tends to, overall, chill you out. Now, strung-out junkies who are feeling the need can be pretty energetic, but the drug itself tends to be calming.

(I speak, of course, of heroin. The effects of herorine seem to be large busoms and chainmail bikinis.)

I think Ethan's strength and endurance in his fight with Jack is merely a result of living on the island for so long...chances are he's been in more than a few scrapes himself and knows how to fight. Jack, on the other hand...he's just a hardcore spinal surgeon.

I just wanted to bump this with something that came up in conversation about the episode later.

It seems like the Island tricked Locke to get him alone before opening the hatch.

It gave him the vision and led him to the plan, weakened him so that Boone went alone and got injured... then Locke is ok enough again to carry Boone back to camp.

Now when Locke goes back to the hatch alone... the light comes on?

I just rewatched the episode, and I'm shocked I missed another case of obvious symbolism...

...listen to Locke explain the game of Mousetrap...sound familliar at all?

No not at all, could you explain?

(I´m not familar with this game)

Mousetrap is a game where, as you move around the board you help assemble a rube-goldberg contraption that will catch a mouse. Since rube-goldberg contraptions are usually long and complicated (and before the device goes into action they are seemingly non-existent as a system with a singular purpose), it could be argued that there's this big rube-goldberg contraption designed to bring people (Locke specifically?) to the island and to the hatch. Heck, the plane falling off the cliff is reminiscent of some part of the Mousetrap game where the net drops a long way to catch the mouse.

Edit: here's a link showing the mousetrap game. http://www.centralconnector.com/GAMES/mousetrap.html
