Lost Eberron 4E Style: Combat over, Level up!

Lorn walks forward thinking about his plan. He sweeps his staff in front of him, and flames erupt across the deck. When the flames clear, only one skeleton is standing.

Smacking Thormir on the back, Hesh chuckles. Its just a scratch, Little One! Should have seen the time that damn elf shoved that blade through my neck. There's a wound! He circles around the swarming undead and recklessly smashes his flail at it, crushing some undead flesh. Hey, wizard! Get ready to get it![sblock]Minor: Insipring Word on Thormir: HS+4. Thormir ignores the undead limb and blasts away at the zombie between himself and Hesh, careless of the sure-to-come counterattack of the creature.

Stellan keeps his limbs as loose as he can, so as not to alert his captors to his consciousness. Attempting to use the natural motion of being carried, he tests the quality of his bonds, hoping to find some small weakness to exploit. Barring that, he just tries to listen to the jungle and understand the wilderness around him.

[sblock=ooc] I'm thinking maybe a perception check (+6) to test the knots, or a nature check (+5) for some clues about the jungle. [/sblock]

Thormir raises his hand and holds his breath...Hesh then knocks it out of him with a whoosh. The dwarf coughs from the hobgoblin smacking him in the back rather playfully, even with their situation, with the haft of his flail. Its just a scratch, Little One! Should have seen the time that damn elf shoved that blade through my neck. There's a wound!

Hesh steps to the side, flanking the zombie with the dwarf. The warlord crushes the skull of the zombie in, and it falls to the deck motionless.

The dwarf sucks in his breath, glaring at Hesh, it's hard to tell in his eyes if he's grateful or just wants to hurt something. Thormir raises his hand and the zombie is enveloped in flames. The limb takes the opportunity to reach up and scratch the dwarf, but Thormir hops back, avoiding the claws. A ghostly red swirl of power raises from the zombie, and Thormir inhales it in.

Stellan listens to the sounds of the jungle around him. He doesn't recognize anything that seems to be out of place or anything to identify his location.

[sblock=Nature]Nature check 9. Nothing revealed.[/sblock]

The shifter, as best he can in his situation test the strength of his bindings. The warrior determines that though the bonds are strong, with time and effort he may be able to break them.

[sblock=Perception]Perception: 16. Stellan determines that he can break the ropes that bind him, given time and a place where he will not be discovered. This will have an effect on the upcoming skill challenge.[/sblock]

The shifter hangs from the pole, listening to the jungle around him and the voices of the goblins. They sometimes speak mostly in Goblin, but when excited they speak in Common. Words that the shifter hears include: "Scaled ones", and "Prophet."

Xandren charges into the fray, trying to help his allies.

Xandren moves down the stairs. He charges toward the crawling claw, and slams his blade into it, cleaving right through it, leaving a notch in the deck. Only the skeletal archer remains. It draws back it's bow and fires at Lorn. The arrow flies toward him, but the wizard raises his staff, and the arrow shatters against an invisible shield of force.

[sblock=ooc]Archer fires at Lorn, hits AC 19. Lorn uses staff of defense feature, causing arrow to miss.[/sblock]

Somewhere in the jungle....

Stellan hangs from the pole between the goblins. The shaman, Stellan can only assume comes to check on his patient. The shaman's keen senses see the shifter is awake. The goblin clubs the shifter in the head and everything goes black.

The next time Stellan awakes, he smells burning wood. He hears the chirping of birds. Was he home, back in The Reaches? Was this all a dream? He lifts his head, and his heads pounds in his ears. Stellan realizes he is half standing half hanging. A goblin in leather stands nearby. Hooks and other devices hang from it's belt. A large pot sits on the fire, with bubbling yellowish liquid in it. The goblin stirs the coals with an iron poker, and then sets the pocker in the coals to heat. The chirping that he thought was birds is actually a number of small lizards. They stand nearby on a log.

The voices of other goblins can be heard behind him, and to his right, dirty brown hides cover a cave entrance.
