D&D 5E Lost Mine of Phandelver

Prophet grumbles when he hears the crunch of the bugbear's morningstar against Aenwyr's ribs. "Damned fragile elfs!" he says. Then, "Yeow! Watch it there ye matted mountain o' fleas!" He grips his warhammer and brings it around in a sweeping underhanded arc...

Roll: 1d20+4=19, 1d8+2=10 (Hits AC 19 for 10 damage)

... and thwacks the hairy beast directly under the chin. "Ha! Now get that rotten maw off o' me!"

Garuk mumbles a quick incantation and unleashes the cold and stiffness of death at the big brute of a Hobgoblin...

Aenwyr staggers and gasps with pain as he feels and hears his ribs give way. We can't do this much longer... Bugbear needs to go down, he thinks through the red fog of pain. Then a weak smile crosses his face as he sees Amron's arrow sprout from Klarg's side. As wolves circle their prey, so shall we.
[Sblock=OOC]A day late, but here's your reminder. :)[/sblock]

Prophet's hammer smashes in to the wolf's jaw and utterly destroys its muzzle, shattering every bone in its face. The creature manages a muffled whimper as the force of the impact throws it backward, landing in crumpled, dead heap.

Klarg sidesteps just in time to avoid Garuk's ray of frost but, in the process, steps right in to Amron's arrow.

Klarg howls in grief, pain, and rage, determined to take as many people with him into death as he can. His goblin cohort, on the other hand, is looking terribly nervous.

However, his courage is suddenly bolstered when he, and the group, hear reinforcements arriving. Coming from behind the group, from the direction of the bridge, are the second goblin who escaped down the garbage chute, and six other goblins, including a relatively large (for a goblin) brute of a goblin who appears to be a lieutenant of some sort.

OOC: The reinforcements are within missile weapon range and will be within melee range next round (or sooner if a character wants to break off from Klarg and meet the approaching reinforcements head on this round.

OOC: Round 3 Initiative order...

22 - Aenwyr (9 damage)
22 - Selari (1 damage)
19 - Eight Goblins
18 - Klarg, the Bugbear (22 damage)
16 - Mina
14 - Ripper, The Wolf (Killed by Prophet)
9 - Garuk
8 - Amron
4 - Treygar
2 - Prophet

Aenwyr and Selar are up!

Aenwyr forces himself to stay near Klarg and swings his scimitar in a desperate attack which flies hopelessly wide. Then the druid brings his shield up to hopefully intercept the brutal morningstar. With Klarg's attention on him, Aenwyr shouts in elven, "Now, Selari! We must take him down now!"
[sblock=OOC]Scimitar vs Klarg: 1d20+4=5. :(

Aenwyr has one more 1st level spell today and Cure Wounds prepared, but I have a feeling that others might need it to deal with the rest of the goblins. I'm hoping Selari can finish off Klarg before Klarg finishes off Aenwyr...[/sblock]

Selari grunts in frustration at the situation as she aims to hit Klarg around the fighting Aenwyr but misses.

OOC: IC is down and I LOATHE this roller! Ick. Sorry Aenwyr :( Roll(1d20)+5: 2,+5 Total:7

The goblin reinforcements advance to within melee range of those at the back of the party. The single goblin at Klarg's side, eager to impress his master and more confident with the arrival of his kin, takes a swing at Aenwyr, hoping to finish him off.

Klarg, meanwhile, turns his attention to Prophet and says in growling Common, "Wolf killer, die now!"

OOC: The group took on Klarg while still on the stairs leading from the water pools room to Klarg's chamber. As such, you are bottlenecked with the folks at the front faced with Klarg and those in the back now stuck with the goblin reinforcements to deal with. Fortunately for you, it means that only two goblins at the back can get in attacks in a round.

Invisible Castle is down so, my dice say...

Goblin rolls a 16 to hit vs. Aenwyr, which hits for 7 damage.

Klarg rolls a 14 to hit vs. Prophet, which misses.

The goblin's scimitar slices across the back of Aenwyr's thigh, opening up an artery and spilling his life's blood onto the cavern floor. Aenwyr falls to the ground, dying.

Klarg's morningstar is deflected by Prophet's shield, however.

OOC: Aenwyr is at 0 hp and is dying. He will need to make a death save on his next turn.

Mina, Garuk, Amron, Treygar, and Prophet are up.

Mina felt her heart leap into her throat as she saw the goblin horde charging forward- especially with the group mostly bottled up in the narrow passageway. This was a bit TOO MUCH excitement- and she knew many tales with sad and terrible endings; she had no wish to face such an end.

Hooking one arm through her bowstring to keep that weapon ready, she reached down to the harpcase at her side. There was no time to dig the instrument free, but she could reach the strings and that was all she needed. A few complex chords called the music to life, the mnemonic sequence that formed the threads of magic... She raised her voice in song, the pure notes of elvish ringing in the confined space as the mgic reached towards the nearer goblins...

[sblock= OOC] If she can shift around into the 'center' of the PC pack without an OA she will do so. Then cast Sleep on the newly arrived group of goblins- if she can place it to get the ones closest to her and any other PCs, do so. Hand-rolled dice say Sleep affects 25 HP of goblins.
