"Lost" movie in the works

That made me almost snerk water on my keyboard. Would that make the movie "Lost" 3.5?
They're revising Lost? Let's hope they forgot about including that kid and his dog. :p

FYI: If you're ever in Hawaii on the night of September 14, the second-season premiere episode of LOST will be played at the Sunset on the Beach event in Waikiki. Also attending the event, the cast of LOST.

The thing is that tv-shows generally get filmed on a day per episode basis. That means that the actors and crew have one shot at getting it right. Very rarely do they have multiple takes. With a movie you can assume that (provided you have the budget) a scene is done again and again until it's "right", giving the actors time to work out the kinks and see what works and what doesn't.

I've worked as an extra on both movies and tv shows, and there doesn't seem to be much difference in methods of production that I can tell. Just about every time, an 8 hour shoot has turned into 14+ hours of shooting because of multiple shots, retakes, etc. It's easier to go back and reshoot scenes that didn't work in a movie (during post-production) but in my experience, directors in both mediums get a lot more footage than they would ever need in order to get the shot they want.

The kid and his dog play a huge roll in all the oddities going on. The story revolves around him. No annoying kid, no show.

WOW! I really disagree with you on that one. I still really dislike that movie even after all these years. I'm still a huge fan of the TV show though.
I maintain that I feel the movie is great. But the later comment, about it being one of Lynch's best works, is just the consensus I've gathered from lynch discussion sites over the years. This stance is also supported by wikipedia's entry on Twin Peaks, if you feel it holds weight. But feel free to disagree!

I'd like to see a Lost movie in any case, if only because it opens the doors to bigger and grander possibilities (money-wise...). I tend to feel that Lost is in good hands and would make appropriate use of the resources.

Well, I'm not one to argue with the gravitas of the Internet, but I would contend really that either Blue Velvet or Lost Highway really gather up the threads that Lynch suggested in Eraserhead and expressed them best. But I am far too lazy to offer a wiki of my plebian opinions.

Anywy, argument for a different thread! :)

While you think it doesn't make sense to have a show and then cancel it because it's getting good ratings, the same thing basicaly happened with the original Galactica. (And that show had a annoying kid and dog, too. Robot dog, though)

If you read the news for Lost over at IMDB, you can find out that:

The original pilot cost $12 million to make, and got the guy who green-lighted it fired...

ABC claims they lose about $500,000 on each episode (this may be a ploy to get money out of Hawaii)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411008/news

Though apparently the guy who hated the show was Michael Eisner, and appaerntly he's leaving. So maybe not.

The SF channel also did that a couple times. I think the Invisible Man got good ratings, but was expensive, and so it was booted.

It will be interesting to see how this season plays out, then, if it actually lost money last year. I wonder how much of it related to advertising contracts sold prior to knowledge of the show's success.

I dont think so. You post on a thread about a topic you know you don't like so that you can display your "superior" taste and general disgust at we low-browed plebs. You'd have to see the film for another reason.

Too true. Makes me wonder why my local government think that making Hawaii a viable filming location would bring greater economy when all the producers want is to con us. As much as I like watching LOST, if the production company continue to bitch and moan, they can leave.
