Miles I think will help us to figure out about the mysterious whispers, the apparitons and perhaps smokey. I have a strong feeling Miles will eventually come face to face with smokey.

We were talking about that a little bit in this thread, and like you, I think the electromagnetism on the island is behind a lot of this. I actually think that Miles may be just in touch with another form of it- perhaps he has a particular affinity for electromagnetic fields, and his "ghost whispering" is him picking up on Kirlian auras and the like.

I just re-watched the show, and I think there are some small comments that were made that might help decipher who this economist is (if they are someone current, and not someone yet to be introduced).

The comment made is when Sayid tells the German chick that she should tell her employer that there is newer technology out there. Referring to the fact she carries a beeper around rather than a cell phone.

To which she replies that her employeer is "very old fashioned".

This comment struck me. Do we know any current characters who are like this? Someone who prefers older technology to new? I can't think of anyone off hand, but I really don't think this was an innocent comment with no meaning behind it.

Heh, the first person/thing I immediately thought of after that little exchange was Jacob. Then again, he/it freaks out when Locke uses a flashlight; I don't suppose he'd see much difference between a beeper and a cell phone ;)

As been pointed out more then just the Oceanic 6 could/did get off the island. Ben, Juliet and Desmond did/could have got out. I wonder if the O6 designation is more of a reference to the 6 that won the big settlement from Oceanic Air than actually getting off the island. Anyone else getting away from the island via frieghter or whatever, but not on the flight or part of the lawsuit wouldn't have that media attention.

Or maybe it's just six Americans. You know how our society is portrayed as both celebrity-focused and often blissfully unaware of the world around us. Maybe the Aussies and others are back in their homelands.

Sayid isn't an US citizen, he's an Iraqi.
