LotR: TTT -- DVD ETA?

Greatwyrm

Been here a while...
Wow, that's a lot of unnecessary initials. Anyway, does anybody know the planned release date of The Two Towers on DVD? I can't seem to find one anywhere.

This is just a guess, but i think it will be be last year like with the fellowship DVD's. Movie version first week of August, the extended in second week of November.

I read somewhere (I can't remember where but I believe it was a "credible" source and not some rumor post) that P. Jackson is wearing himself out working on the TT Extended Edition and RotK simultaneously. Looks like the plan is to give the "extended" treatment to the entire trilogy. (I'm sure the FotR DVD sales justified it too.)

These are the dates that are being bandied about on the Tolkien websites. I'll assume that they are pretty accurate - they nailed the DVD release dates for Fellowship.

C'mon November! :)

I just hope the rumors I heard about TTT and RoTK are true. That the extended TTT will have an extra hour, and the movie relase of Return of the King will be 3.5 hours, and the extend 4.5 hours.

While I would LOVE to see a 3.5 long theatrical release of RotK, it will probably end up being just like the first 2 and end up at 3 hours. Anything longer than that and attention spans melt away as well as other things like eyes simply getting tired (for the average movie-goer). DVD releases are more likely to have the extra times mentioned and I can definately see it for TTT as there were many scenes that could have been extended (or added from what I have read and what people have said of the original works).

Either way, I'm all for movie times running longer but going over 3 hours is very rare for any feature film. Most studios won't even consider releasing one (even with the popularity of LotR) that is over that by much.

I heard PJ say that he will need 3.5 hours to tell the story of RoTK, and thats what he is pushing for for the theactical version.
