Low-Level Game, Newbies Welcome! [Closed]

I suggest this: we're already a group, we've had "adventures" but we'll make up previous "episodes" via dialogue as the game progresses.

The GM can throw events at us, we'll go from there.

btw: I'm eager to start, even just RPing.

Each character so far has been anathema to society (a faerie in a world of big people, an ancient construct with a primal spirit, and an experimental lifeform) which means its hard for them to find steady jobs, but the world is covered in unexplored ruins filled with treasure. So as of right now, you're just adventuring because it's a better career choice than anything else. And yes, I was going to let you come up with past adventures during RP. I'll give you a hook at the beginning of the game that explains why you're about to do what you're about to do, and it will take place in a city near the desert, but other than that it's up to you guys!

For those who haven't, post a character sheet and backstory (need not be too complicated if you aren't into that) as soon as possible. I too am ready to begin! (If we've lost someone, I'll make a filler character until someone wants to take over.)

I'd like to say that Seelia, outcast as she is from normal society, has at first been hanging around with a band of mercenaries. She had to win her place among them, but having done so they overlook the other things about her. Most of them are deserters and scalawags, and all manner of ne'er do wells, so that's kind of how they roll.

I figure she either got separated from them, or they disbanded or got killed, or maybe she just saw something shiny one day and went wandering off without them. :)

Something shiny... like a metallic jackal running with a pack of non-metallic jackals?

Bullet points:
 • staggers into semi-consciousness 'leaking' bizarre energy
 • notes that wildlife seem afraid of him; adopts form of silver/metallic jackal and runs with the pack a spell
 • Someone (Dwarf warden?) finds him and his pack-mate under attack by "something decidedly not natural", helps drive it off (but not kill it - even weakened, it's still tough/smart enough to elude pursuit)
 • (Whoever) attempts to communicate, awakening a 'core consciousness' which shakes him out of his animal persona
 • Howl, it calls itself, decides to follow (whoever) around while he figures out his own purpose.
 • Once returned to Warforged mode, finds that he can sense presence of energy like his, follow it to a ramshackle town of other spellscarred... (and maybe that's where we meet the ladies!)

It's interesting that you would mention that, Seelia, because Elandra was first found by that same group of mercenaries. While scallywags and drunkards, they acted as gentlemen/ladies when she stumbled out onto the street, and took her in as well. First thing: put a ragged cloak around her shoulders and food in her stomach. When she could "talk" (and they needed her to earn some income/pull her weight) she picked up a sword and, due to her nascent powers, the entire group with her improved. She learned all her combat skills incredibly quickly, as well as suddenly being able to speak, read, write, memorize complex plans and information sets, etc. Suddenly they had a field commander with impressive abilities (and yeah, that glowing aura around her head; and she's hawt, and nice, so even the weasily back-stabbers really liked her).

Seelia was immediately one of her favourite people, being "different" like her.

Question: did we lose our group, or were they killed off, or did they vanish mysteriously?

@fireinthedust

Maybe your group decided that the Wastes were just too dangerous and decided to hunker down in spell-scarred territory for a while, resting on their laurels. That's where you could meet Howl and the Dwarf Warden character (assuming shamgar001 is still in, or as a NPC) and learn that Howl used to lair in a place with some fairly stable ruins... the adventure continues!

Iron Wolf Warrior Trait (Seelia)
Even if the group of mercenaries that took you in was killed, there are still some from the same group out there that will let you use their resources and even possibly join you on adventures if you need the extra help, as long as you don't ask them to do anything against their beliefs. They also taught you woodworking, a skill they collectively picked up since they tend to be explorative. You can craft mundane wooden weapons (such as bows, crossbows, arrows, clubs, etc.) as well as tools; you can do this once per short rest, unless the project is bigger (such as a dining room table; subject to DM fiat), in which case it requires an extended rest. You need the proper resources, which can be freely taken from the mercenary group or gathered wherever wood is found (gathering wood requires two hours of work, which means it's two hours that don't count for a rest).

So so far:
 • Seelia leaves the faeries and joins mercenaries.
 • Elandra awakens from her slumber and joins mercenaries.
 • Another character finds Howl in the desert.
 • All meet each other in the city near the desert and form an adventuring group.

If shamgar001 and Sheepat don't post character sheets by tomorrow, I'll reopen the recruitment. I would like to start the game on Monday (US East Coast time, if that matters).

Sorry, my post count isn't up enough to post links. If you looked at myth-weavers sheet id 820447, you'll find it.

I don't have my backstory hammered out, but here's what I've got so far.

Rogun is the child of some poor laborers from a poor village in a forest/mountain area. He was selected by the town's warden (chief protector) to succeed him, and was trained from an early age. He resented the role though, and would have rather spent his time drinking and gambling away his parent's limited money. When his parents died, he left his village and joined a group of mercenaries.

Heee...woodworking. That's actually a kind of cool idea.

I have to rebuild Seelia though. Turns out that Surprising Charge only works with light blades, so White Well won't work with it.

I either need to switch her to the winter build, or find another cool charger combo...

Background is the same either way though.

I'll get a final build up asap!

Howl: Well, perhaps a mercenary gig brought us into the Wastes. Elandra's telepathy could easily contact Howl's mind. Even if the DW wasn't there just yet, we could have met howl like that. Maybe we ran into the DW who helped us break through to Howl after several attempts?
