Low-Level Game, Newbies Welcome! [Closed]

Sorry, my post count isn't up enough to post links. If you looked at myth-weavers sheet id 820447, you'll find it.

I don't have my backstory hammered out, but here's what I've got so far.

Rogun is the child of some poor laborers from a poor village in a forest/mountain area. He was selected by the town's warden (chief protector) to succeed him, and was trained from an early age. He resented the role though, and would have rather spent his time drinking and gambling away his parent's limited money. When his parents died, he left his village and joined a group of mercenaries.
That looks good! Perhaps the forest is the same where Seelia joined, as that's where faeries tend to live.

Should the need arise, I will create a dragonborn hunter to fill in the controller role.

[MENTION=51930]fireinthedust[/MENTION] - I like that idea. You guys could have even been potential prey at first - Howl is your "level 1 wolf" encounter! *lol*

Elandra throws out her mind to try and calm the beast, finds out there's more than a beast in there... that would probably be enough for Howl and pal to tag along out of curiosity more than anything. The then Warden shows up, says "yeah, that's not a jackal... exactly..." and Nature checks Howl into people-mode.

Also [MENTION=6774892]RMcCall[/MENTION] - Dragonborn Hunter, eh? They're nice and handy. I approve. :)

Everyone want to start now? I'll leave the recruitment open in case someone wants to take over the DMPC. I just need to make him first! I have work today, so might not get to open the IC thread until tonight.

Sure! Not the adventure until you're ready, but I find it's good to get a group "playing" even if they're not in combat. It's my preference/style at least :D

Thing is, pbp has a shelf life that needs recharging, if you get me.

I'm set for the tavern (if that is where we're going.)

Do people generally do colors for in character speech on this forum? If so, dibs on ...whatever color this is. I'm used to seeing the code. :P

Obviously I'm a stranger to the site.

Ooh, colors are a cool idea. One thing that doesn't really matter but that I envision whenever I play D&D is that each character has an "aura" color, so all their spells are tinted that color. The speech color could be like that, I suppose. I'll choose orange for Srasut, as the dragonborn hunter shall be called.

Forgive me for waxing prose if that's not your thing; I like storytelling! I'll adjust to fit the tone you guys set, though (I've been reading a lot of Discworld lately, so that's kind of my starting point at the moment, though of course I'm not as witty as Pratchett).

Is there a separate out-of-character thread, or do we just use this one?

Also, is there something special I do with mechanical text to distinguish it from RP?

I guess we can just use this thread for out-of-character stuff. Unless that's not how the forum rules work? I dunno, never really done pbp before.

Yes, let's use the EN World dice roller (I'll make mine "behind the screen" unless I need to show you) and (edit again) the QUOTE tags for OOC talk in the main thread. I think the OOC tags look really ugly, but you can use them too if you want. ;)

EDIT: Nevermind about the dice roller, it seems the site doesn't have one anymore. Invisible Castle seems to be a popular choice for such things, so we can use that.

My experience with these boards is the following works:

Charisma check by Fireinthedust: [roll0]

aka: (roll)1d20+57(/roll)

OOC: write what you want here.

IC: Then Fire went back into character, fingers a blur as they whirred across the keyboard. "Must finish before coffee runs out!" he grunted.
