Luck Domain question

Can the luck domain's special ability be used to reroll a poor HP roll (when going up a level)?

Honestly, I think you should use it only to reroll a dice you have rolled in-game, I mean a roll which regards an action's result, being it attack, damage, ST, caster level check, skill check, ability check, or something similar.

I don't even think (although it COULD make sense) it should be used to reroll a random generated treasure, but that's because the roll is made by the DM not by you.

Actually, the power is already somehow metagaming - your PC doesn't know you "roll" for him :) - but using this for HD rolling doesn't sound good IMHO. Maybe it's because we use to roll HD (and do everything regarding levelling up) somehow out of game time, and indeed we have always though of levelling up as a time-concentrated result of a time-distributed improvement, and in our case the "1/day" doesn't make sense at all: I mean, we don't level up in the middle of a fight, usually at the end of a session, without thinking if the PCs level up in the evening or in the morning, because we see levelling up as something the PCs accomplish over time.

Hope it was clear enough :)

I'm with the others...it doesn't seem right for rolling for HP. In our game, it's solely used on d20 rolls. This actually helps more than it hurts, as damage is rarely that critical that you need to make it. It's MUCH more useful on saving throws, especially on those auto-fails that spring up entirely too often.
