My monk had pretty decent luck, and hit most of the times he attacked, at least on the initial attacks. One time, as he was mowing into a marilith, the DM leaned over to another player and stage-whispered, "Should I tell him it's dead?" He tore through a pair of winter wights in one flurry-charge in another combat without breaking a sweat.
However, the very first combat of our epic game, he walked right into the DM's absolute favorite trap...he D-Doored behind this epic dragon, hoping to flank it, and dropped into a 200' pit...with 4x gravity.
On the bright side, he still had 20 HP left afterwards, and after vaporising the balor the dragon had conjured to keep him busy, was coming back to help beat the crap out of the dragon when said dragon surrendered.
Strangely, he wasn't particularly good at fighting dragons, as the next dragon he ran into nearly grappled him to death when he was without his magic items (he was busy demolishing a deity's altars in water that disjoined every round). The reason that's kind of ironic is that (a) the monk was a half-dragon and (b) the DM had given him, as his artifact, a crown that could control dragons.
