Lycanthrope Tiger / Rogue just run dont look back RUN!

So, have you given this Weretiger/rogue the obvious nickname?

***TIGGER!!!*** ;)

I can just picture him bouncing and pouncing from one PC to the next till they're all down... 'cause that's what Tigger's do best dont'cha know! :D

Reminds me of an unfortunate event in a Oriental Adventures campaign. We were attacked by a Giant. I am not sure if he won initiative - no, probably not, I think we all engaged him (full of melee combatants). He makes his first attacks on my Monk, IIRC, and kills him. Then cleaves to the next one. Kills him. Then greater cleaves to the next one. Kills him. Then greater Cleave to the remaining one. TPK. I am not sure when it was exactly, but our DM later figured out he somehow jumped into the wrong column of the D&D 3.0 Monster Manual Giant Stats, chosing the stats of a Giant way beyond our party level. Oops...

*takes notes* in our game, we have a werebear monk and a weretiger fighter....this DOES get nasty at times. Then again, the Dm doesnt give the bear/tiger HD, but he gives half the ability mods in humanoid form(with one "core" ability staying at full, depending on the creature - tiger is dex, bear is con). Hes altered the lycanthrope template a bit....but its still very very nasty....

Ok so here is the latest update. Our party Cleric said he was speaking with DM and the class
Shadowmind? came up when he spoke of the lycan tiger, ok so give me the scoop whats a shademind?
I want to make my pc for next week and not kitty food.

Give yourself a high AC and some sort of immunity to criticals and/or SA. Offhand, I can think of a few ways of doing that:

One level of Warshaper (CW)
Warforged with Improved Fortification (ECS)
Anything with enough Uncanny Dodge to always deny SA
Armor and shield with some combo that gives 100% fortification

And on the attack front, you could look into picking up a Shifter's Sorrow.

I *think* that Shadowmind is from Complete Adventurer; it's a psionic class that grants some Sneak Attack and rogue skills, with manifesting. So, odds are, the kitty had a mix of rogue and psychic warrior.

Take the below with a grain or two of salt; I could have Shadowmind wrong.

Hrm...that could be potentially nasty with Psionic Lion's Charge, which, BTW, would help explain where the massive damage came from. That power allows you to make a full attack on the end of a charge, and then augments at +1 point of damage/power point spent on the attack. IIRC, it costs 3 points to start off with, being a second-level power, so if the kitty could spend, say, 10, that's a +7 damage to each hit.

There are a few potential drawbacks to this. First, middle BAB on each HD he has makes it hard to hit anything. Second, the rogue and tiger HD make any manifesting pretty expensive in terms of class levels, even if he has some psionic version of Practiced Spellcaster. Third, even if it does work out, it can only do this a few times before petering out of power points, especially if he's dumping points into Offensive Precognition to help hit. In fact, I'm not really sure how this would be workable with Rules As Written, even as an NPC. Definitely not for a PC; the ECL is too high, and the levels are just painful.

So, tactics. First, win initiative and keep your distance. Second, have some sort of brace vs. charge weapon or ability, like those boots from Arms & Equipment Guide. Third, dispel and debuff him ASAP. Fourth, BE HARD TO HIT. Sorry, that needs to be emphasized, being at fourth and all. :)

Builds...if you've been keeping up with Dragon, I'd go for a polearm specialist, especially with the # 338 Class Acts Longspear-and-Shield style. Take that, Heavy Armor, Combat Reflexes, Hold the Line, and whatever feats are available in that previous Polearms Are Your Friends article. Heavy Fortification Armor will cramp the kitty's style at only +36k, and because you can carry a shield, you can jack up your AC with that, too.

Here's something I'm curious about - is your DM cool with you creating a PC based on what creature you expect to fight next?

I think the DM is just baiting us; giving us something to ponder (waste time on) before we play again.
