[M&M 2e] Red Sands Chronicles. (OOC)

Relique, this unlabeled slider...is it currently slid "on" or slid "off?"

I should have made it clearer.

The slider that isn't clearly labeled is the "V o T" slider. The "V o T" slider has a marker on its center so its setting is set when it lines up with the setting indicator (the "V", "o", or "T"). Without testing it out, its hard to tell what each setting is, but it is possible to infer (I would have gave it to you on a 20+). However, Deezy does know that it is connected to the "Tx" (talk) and Code switch.

The sliders which have an on/off function uses the modern " | O " convention to denote the on and off settings.

Question: provided he got within range, could Brian use his environmental control abilities to effectively shut down an engine? They run on heat, and if his powers suck the heat out of an engine...?

I'm not sure how it'd work mechanically, but with the talk of the large heat sources in the mega-crawlers, I thought it worth considering.

I think the problem with that would be that Environmental Control is pretty limited in its application. You could make an area colder, with mechanical effects as described in the book, but that doesn't have any 'extra' effects. That is, drawing the heat out of an internal combustion engine (any heat engine, really) -could- stop the engine from working...but Env Control doesn't let you draw the heat out of an engine. That would be more like a Nullify with a limit, I'd think.

But! There's nothing stopping you from working out what power would have the effect you're looking for with the GM, then using Extra Effort to gain a one-shot Alternate Power of that ability...possibly using a Hero Point to avoid the Fatigue, though it may not be necessary in this case.

It's a tough call considering that the environmental section even alludes to extreme cold or heat being able to cause damage. However allowing Environmental control to cause damage or give it a built in nullify effect (beyond the power's stated RAW) would actually make the power be too unbalanced for a 1-2pt/rank power. For this reason I would have to say I can't allow environmental control to do what you ask.

HOWEVER, as Shayuri has mentioned, what you are really asking to do can be done via an alternate power or a power stunt. Effect wise I think Nullify (Combustion Engines), Nullify (Heat sources), or even Transform (Liquids to Solids) could do what you are asking.

Thanks both of you. I tend to get a bit lost sometimes between all the effect types, and figured what I was asking for wasn't the general intent, but wasn't sure what would cover it. Now I do. :)
