[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

Each room of the airlock appears to be able to hold up to about a dozen people, and two people can squeeze into it at a time.
This was going to be a tense affair, even with the doors open…

And, of course, the last lock featured a tiny, re-enforced window swirling with iridescent green aether, through which periodically pulsed a demonic red light. Luckily, the stuff was sluggishly, reluctantly streaming upwards, thinning ever so slowly even as he watched.

Seif took a deep breath, steadied his hands... and stepped through.

A pause - his breaths for a time the only sound in his ears, human sweat and antique rubber the only smells in his nostrils - but as he failed to change <I assume?>, bathed as he was in pure evil, he reluctantly gestured for Deezy to come through even as he took in his surroundings.

OOC: Keep an eye out for any adverse reactions on Deezy's part nonetheless.
The blower is positioned so that it is directly in front of the airlock with a 2 1/2 ft gap between the door and the edge of sensor's range.
"That will not do," pointed out the desert man with a sigh. He had been hoping- but no. "Solutions?"

<Response Deezy, Brian, Sahid?>

[sblock=Actions]Not being the mechanic of the bunch, Seif will look at approaches first: is there a way to approach the blower under cover? I'm guessing not with the "featureless room" bit, but what about above or below (the vent into which it's feeding aether?), does the beam fully cover those areas as well?

What about the beam's timing? Would it be possible to run in between sweeps and get to cover before the next arrives?[/sblock]

"Brian reduced the air temperature, and we slipped pass the laser, with no ill consequences. I suppose we can do that again?" Sahid commented.

Brian Shaughnessy

"Theoretically, yes," he says, "I'm stabilizing the air the move through, which they'll have in common. But honestly, if we can take this thing out ... most of my abilities work directly on a thing; nothing to sense. Maybe I can just wreck this thing from the safety of another room?"

Deezy followed Seif, setting the airlock's manual override as she did to keep its door open. Far from seeming afraid of the aether flows in the room, she actually reached up a gloved hand and waved it through the eerie green mist, grinning as the gas twirled and eddied after its passage.

"Blowing up the blower is a bad idea," she opined. "The damage could spread through the bunker. If it reached anything else, like a fuel line or something, we could have a biiiiiiiiig explosion."

She eyed the laser for a second.

"Tricky. Can't really get close enough for long enough to use the DRUID. What we need is a mirror or something. A big one. Then we could make a safe zone for people to go through."

Abruptly Deezy snapped her fingers and pointed at Brian.

"Can you make ice? Really really SHINY ice?"

"If the ottoman here can shape some water just so, I shouldn't have any trouble freezing it. But since we're talking about it, would it make a difference if I froze the blower rather than burning it? If the whole thing crumbles, there's no boom, yes?"

Deezy followed Seif, setting the airlock's manual override as she did to keep its door open.
OOC: Uh, just to confirm, did Deezy really just open all the doors behind her despite Seif telling her not to?
"Blowing up the blower is a bad idea," she opined. "The damage could spread through the bunker. If it reached anything else, like a fuel line or something, we could have a biiiiiiiiig explosion."
"And then there's the giant blast of released aether," completed Seif, crossing his arms.

"But since we're talking about it, would it make a difference if I froze the blower rather than burning it? If the whole thing crumbles, there's no boom, yes?"
Seif considered. "IF you can freeze the entire thing in one shot." The blower was a good sight bulkier than a wasteland ghost... and clad in metal armor. "The detector will frost first," was his judgment. "And then we die."

Deezy eyed the laser for a second. "Tricky. Can't really get close enough for long enough to use the DRUID. What we need is a mirror or something. A big one. Then we could make a safe zone for people to go through." Abruptly Deezy snapped her fingers and pointed at Brian.
"Can you make ice? Really really SHINY ice?"
"Shaughnessy is saying he *can* get us as close as we need to be, Klatta," softly re-directed the un-veiled one. A jerk of the chin towards the blower: "Can you disarm it?"

<Response Deezy>

OOC: What does the detector+bomb assembly look like, Relique? Are they external or internal?

OOC: Here is the most simplest description I can give:

Think of a patio heater. Add a bunch of slender propane tanks and strap them to its base and add some detonator caps and wires an misc. circuity to handle the detector's functions. On top of the base are two black ring several inches tall that is slightly concaved ( the sensor array). In the center of the sensor array is the housing of the lazer that spins around the base.

The assembly for the bombs is mostly is external since it looks like the detectors and detonators were attached to the blower.

Deezy squints a little through her suit's visor at the tangle of wires and tanks attached to the blower.

"Prooooooobably. It looks pretty makeshift. Let me get closer and I can tell for sure."

She looks at Brian. "Let me know when it's safe for me to go."

(Question for Relique - This'd be a Disable Device check, right?)

OOC: To check if it's makeshift I will also accept a Craft:Electric, and a Knowledge: tecnology or a disable device check.

To disarm it you could use a Disable Device, Computer Use... or even a convincing strategy to attack and demolish it without setting it off. :D
