[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

Sahid nods, acknowledging the information. The Ottoman winks when the girl mentions carrying the others outside. "Exactly what I meant."

Brian Shaughnessy

Brian, having fallen back into his characteristic silence as those more skilled lead the guiding and signal-tracking, pipes up at the new suggestion.

"I'm all for having the big guns with us if trouble shows up," he says, "But if we're trying to be quiet at all, well, that's kind of blown with giant, heavy robot. Just something to consider."

OOC: Call me sentimental, but I admit that I was hoping for some sort of reaction to the kiss. Not necessarly positive, but still...

Just then Seif returned, pulling hard on the reins of his racing camel: "The settlement has been attacked. Fairly recent. No movement within." He nodded immediate, if silent, agreement to the Ottoman's orders, ready to go on the man's lead.

Upon being informed of the beeping: "Triangulate?"

<Response Deezy?>

"Attacked?... That explains the lack of signal output. Then our friend Brian has it right, if we approach with Deezy's robot, we'll blow our cover. We should proceed on foot, as stealthy as we can. We don't know if whoever raided the town is still there. If you say it was recent, the might be still inside the buildings." the Ottoman offers.

OOC: I was going to put the kiss response in the next update. I was rushing to post and couldn't think of what her response was going to be at the time (since I was called to pick up my brother's gf from work when I was typing the post). :P

"Yeah!" Deezy enthuses. "I can triangulate. I just need to circle around and collect signal readings from at least two other places. Then do a lot of really hard math. Or, we could just follow the beeps as they get stronger until they lead us to the beacon's location."

Her grin is somehow audible, even over the radio.

"As for the rest, if we bring the Beast we're basically saying we don't NEED stealth. But we might scare off any survivors too. You guys' call...I wouldn't mind stretching my legs."

"I vote for quiet, but I'm not expert at this sort of thing," Brian says, glancing to Seif.

OOC: Out of town from tomorrow to Sunday. Not sure what internet access I will or won't have. Feel free to NPC as needed.

OOC: Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat. :D I thought maybe you'd missed that bit and the suspense was killing me.

Seif considered her steadily, or at least the place he thought she was within her hulking monster... "And when they spring the ambush?"

"I vote for quiet, but I'm not expert at this sort of thing," Brian says, glancing to Seif.
"Hit them hard," judged the desert man. "Either there is trouble, or it does not matter what we choose." He turned to the Ottoman.

Interlude...

Lady Raputina shoves Seif then spits on the ground. "How dare you even think of defile my body with your diseased prole lips?" She sneered, "Thanks to your lechery, you will be lucky if I even consider showing you and your cohorts any restraint the next time we meet. So if I were you, I'd pray, to whatever idols you street urchins pray to, that we won't cross paths once you return to Victoria Town."

CHAPTER V: INTO THE RUINS...

Lord Burroughmeister ordered the caravan to the side of the road about two and a half miles from the lower settlement. The stretch of road between the caravan's position and the settlement travels down into what appears to be a basin before it forks towards the settlements which are clinging to the side of the plateau and then to the south.

The wasteland that flanks the road hints at the region's "ancient" martian past. Mingling within the red sand covered rocks is evidence of what was once a vast grid work of mortar and asphalt, an ancient city that was long since bombed out of existence and left to erode in the fierce Martian sandstorms that occasionally blow through the region. Although most of the structures were reduced to rubble, sprinkled through the basin are partially erect buildings hat stand no taller then three stories in height, with rooves that have long since collapsed as well as solitary sections of wall that rises out of the rubble like a tombstone from the mound of a covered grave.

From you position you can see that the ruins of the ancient city seems to be thinned out, if not cleared about half a mile from the lower settlement, forming a rocky sloping no-man's land. In your gut, you know that this ruins of the ancient city might be ideal for an ambush especially within the ruins of the long obliterated city. You also know that once forced into the no-man's land, you will be noticeable in the day-light if you are without the benefit of camouflage, technological, "mystic", or supernatural protection/cover.

The signal has gotten stronger. Considering the location of the base settlement, you are certain that the signal is not coming from there, but instead the settlement on the plateau.[/sblock]

"If there's an ambush, there's an ambush," Deezy replies, not seeming too worried about the idea. "We'll just have to be ready for it."

"Speaking of which...going by how the signal strength's going up, I think it must be coming from the top of the plateau there. We're too close to the buildings at the base for it to be coming from there."
