[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

Brian Shaugnessy

"Should we burst through it too?" Sahid asks to James. " I'm enjoying the havoc for some reason"

"No!" Brian is quick to respond. "That's the door with the aether on the other side. We need that one intact to save our hides."

OOC: I think. Apologies if I've got that wrong; I have an incredibly hard time with spatial relationships and layouts, so I'm often mixing up what is in relation to what.

I think. Apologies if I've got that wrong; I have an incredibly hard time with spatial relationships and layouts, so I'm often mixing up what is in relation to what.

OOC:
Partially incorrect. This airlock has has two doors. The door in front of you and an other that seals off the room filled with aether.

Seif and Deezy
Seif cautiously opens the hatch while ducking out of the entrance way. After waiting a moment for an attack that never happened, he quickly glanced into the dark maintenance corridor.

The corridor is narrow, and is only wide enough to be traveled in a single file manor. A few feet into the corridor, on the left there is a small alcove that appears to be some sort of lift. At the far end, you see what appears to be a steel door that is opened by twisting a large wheel. From the looks of the door, it opens into the room on it's other side.

Brian and Sahid
OOC: I'm assuming you enter into the air lock.
The airlock consists of a series of three chambers that are similar in appearance: they have communication panels on the side wall, an over ride lever, some air grates, and two doors. Eventually you reach the third, and last chamber of the airlock.

The room on the other side of the viewport, is barely visible due to the amount of aether that is flouting in the room, however you can seem what appears to be a pin prick line of red light that appears to be sweeping through the room from a cylindrical machine located in the center of the room, which you suspect is the aether blower.

Brian Shaughnessy

Brian ducks down at the sight of the beam.

"After those crabs, I'm not going to trust that blower's just a stationary bit of nothing. Best not to make a target of ourselves until we hear from the others."

OOC: We are waiting on the others to divert air flow, right?

Seif looked back, making sure Deezy was following alright. Assuming she was (?), he carefully made his way down the corridor, dearly wishing he had had the visionary foresight to take the diesel lantern from his camel's storage hump. Hopefully there would be light in the end chamber.

In the meantime, he struck a match across the rough metal wall and slowly drew it across the face of the far door, looking for any gross tampering.

OOC: If nothing, then turn the wheel to the unlocked position and slowly push the door open, stopping to look and assess if there's the slightest resistance (I'm thinking wire trap).

OOC: I didn't describe the (laser) beam and the flooded room well...

The (laser) beam is emitting from a small projector ring that is rotating around the aether blower's frame. The beam forms a vertical line as it sweeps from the room. The beam dims considerably the farther it is from the blower until it is only visible as a faint dot on the wall. The brightest segment of the beam is within 10 feet of the blower. The beam arc is angled so that the brightest section does not touch the floor or ceiling.

Besides for blower the room is pretty empty, albeit filled with faint "smoke" (aether). There are a few bodies in the room.. they look as if they were either shot, or died as a result of having their being shredding (by a chainsaw!?!).

As Binder Fred mentioned in the OOC Thread, once inside the aether flooded bunker you have to wait until Seif and Deezy finish their task before you begin your task.

Deezy is indeed following Seif, scowling and bumping her helmet against the walls as she tries to lean from side to side to see ahead of him in the narrow confines of the duct. When he pauses to inspect the door, she twists sideways to get a better look at the 'lift' alcove off to the side. In particular she looks for anything that looks like controls to activate it.

"Whaddya think this thing's for?" she muses, as much to herself as Seif.

Um, Shayuri? I may have this all wrong, but Relique said the alcove "looks like a lift" and I understood that the wheel was *on* the door at the far-end, something like the image below. So Seif went right to the end of the corridor, only glancing at the "lift" in passing.
