M&M3e (DCA) Young Justice: Home Alone

"He was about to fall unconscious and didn't have any longer to say anything?" Solaris suggested. "Would it kill you to wait for instructions? We did make Echo leader and I suspect it would be very helpful to her if you actually let her lead. Going off your own doesn't help the rest of the team co-ordinate, does it?"

"Echo is leader. In order to lead effectively, you need information. So I investigated. Teamwork or not, never underestimate taking the inititive."

She looked over to Solaris. "I'm sorry if I may seem... stand offish... The best I can do is do what I do well. If you haven't noticed... 'all of us' are in over our heads."

Batman wouldn't. Batman would've had a plan, and a backup plan to support that.

"...so I'm investigating. It's not like I'm being insurbordinate."

She shrugged and continued to search.

I think we're doing quite well, actually...

"...so I'm investigating. It's not like I'm being insurbordinate."

So how do the rest of us fit into that initiative of yours?

Solaris refrained from voicing this thought, however. This really wasn't the sort of conversation he'd wanted to have with her.

Instead, as Batgirl searched, Solaris began to investigate himself, going through the plates trying to find the one that would print the puzzles page.

Section D...

OOC: Fire, do you need a Investigation roll from me for that?

[sblock=The Question's mind] Um, can you please roll a Will save for me? [/sblock]

Batgirl: Nope, just the one check is needed. The critical hit shows you the presses are simply printing one page over and over again: the crosswords!

Echo called it right, and looking at the Crosswords pages you can see Edward Nigma's unique signature: each question asks that you fill in the answer, but those answers clearly have some significance beyond a simple crossword. The clues are longer than a standard Crossword, and the number of answers are smaller.

ooc: and I had a website I was going to use to make an actual crossword, and I can't figure out how to get it formatted correctly. I don't know that the site can do what I want. I will be doing a crossword by hand on graph paper and finding a way to scan the image so I can post it here. Sorry for the delay, folks.

In the mean time...

"Oookay then. Subtle, that ain't." Vowing to try and be useful, Solaris looked around for the off-switch. At the very least, it would save the Daily Planet from wasting any more ink.

[sblock=Zatara] You get a plethora of rambling conspiracy theories, a barrage so intense you can barely contain your sanity... too intense! You scream loudly: everything is connected! The plastic nibs on your shoe laces, the additives to Tim Hortons coffee, linked to the prophecies of a 14th century Italian Mystic named Rambaldi! The Illuminati, the Masons, all pawns, pawns! The secret masters...

You see a board with names on it, linked by string to maps, to each other, a network of conspiracies.

This shuts off as the Question regains consciousness. Get out of my head! He sits up and grabs your shirt collar, pulling you in close. Now... now you see them too. For what it's worth, I'm sorry.

ooc: you have peered inside the mind of the Question. You also now know too much. The questions, you can feel them eating away at you. You have to know! Officially you have a new Complication: Conspiracies are Everywhere (if you don't mind). How long this will last is uncertain.
[/sblock]

Zatara jerks away. "Eht citsalp sdne fo eohs secal era dellac stelga! Rieht eurt esoprup si retsinis!" he yells and little tubular plastic pieces appear in the air and rain down on all present. The mageling then grasps his face and collapses to his knees.

Echo looks up and around in surprise at the rain of aglets, then realizes the source of the phenomena. She goes to Zatara's side and asks, "What's happened? Are you all right?"

Then she realizes The Question has regained consciousness.

"You're awake...we're securing the printing presses now. Are you still hurt? Is there anything else you can tell us about what happened here?" She gestures to Zatara.

[sblock=ooc]: gave up on the site. We're imaginative, though, so I'll just give you the clues as they're written below the puzzle itself. Oddly, the font made the numbers look smaller... imagine I have small handwriting (which I don't really) [/sblock]

The Question groans, pushing himself off the floor. He's talking to himself, ranting, as he pushes himself off the floor. Why ask when you can just assault my brain for the answers? It's not so pretty when you know the truth. There's what you learn... and then the people who know you've learned it. Welcome to Hell!

The Batgirl, and a cadre of sidekicks. Nominal Justice League activity. So the league wants to know what's in my head, do they? I'm sure. What a unique opportunity, a rescue. Now they have all the answers, they just have to take apart the kid's head. They know everything now, everything... and they send kids, cause they know I won't kill them. But I'm not the monster, or the puppet, not like the League. I'll tell them, give the kids a chance to save themselves; unless they've been brainwashed too well, the perfect little soldiers... But first thing's first: the bombs!

Hey, Sidekicks: you don't have time to mess around here. The Riddler's planted bombs around the city. Someone made him doing, is using him for some... nefarious purpose. I came here to warn him, but whatever they did to him was too strong. They made him to take out the alien. Maybe that's why you were sent.

You have to stop the bombs, find the Riddler, before whatever they're doing... goes off. Maybe you can shake off the controls in your heads, and the ones in your mentors while you're at it. Then you can be free!

Green Dragon: go with them. Help them stop the bombs. I've got... other business to attend to, secrets that need my attention.

He lurches off, still muttering to himself. Got to hope... they can save... themselves...
