M1: Just a Treasure Hunt?? (Bront Judging)

Three days go by... The crew goes to the island a couple more time careful not to leave the beach area. About sunset on the third day, everyone on deck can a squishing sound coming from the port side of the ship. Upon further investigation, it is the Sahuigan climbing the side of the ship. The crew rush below to find Gregory. Gregory arrives on deck in his sleeping breeches apparantly half asleep. "Glowar I am glad to see you welcome aboard the Seacow" The fishman does not return any small talk instead he extends a webbed hand out in front of him and says "Payment" Gregory produces a poch of gold from apparently no where and hands it over. The fish sticks out its other hand and says "Trinket". Gregory fumbles around for a second patting himself down as if he hadn't realized he does not have any pockets and produces a rock again out of nowhere and says "Blue" the rocks turns blue. "Red" the rock turns red. Glowar takes the rock and the gold to starboard side and drops it over board. He watches the water for about 30 seconds turns back to Gregory and says "Payment accepted we will guide your ship. We will return when the sun rises again.". Then he throws himself over the rail into the sea and disappears in the water.

The Wizard spends the days aboard the SeaCow, but accompanies the Sailors as they go to shore, watching their backs as he warns them to be careful.

Once the sahuigan appears, Genithar is very interested in it, watching the whole exchange with undisguised fascination.

As the Watery Guide makes his pronouncement, the elf rubs his hands together in anticipation, 'Now we go. Prepare yourselves for more danger and get some rest, it may be the best we have for some time.'

'Very soon, my lady,' the Wizard says quietly, 'there will be danger enough for all of us. Be ready for more denizens of the jungle, and vicious plants, to boot. Ho, Xend'rick!' he finishes with gusto.

The lizard watches the sahuagin intently when it boards, impressed by its shape and the way it demands what it wants, unlike the round-and-about way the softskins tend. Afterwards, it keeps an eye on the waters until time to eat and retire.

Terran smiles watching Kol Korran's blessed work in action, wishing only that he could have taken part in the transaction.
Ah, barter: what a wonderful primitive system of commerce. Really it is life at its most beautiful

Terran visibly sheds a tear and walks over to Links " That was beautiful, don't you think. Just beautiful. I cannot wait for our trek to take place so that I may actively participate in this most blessed of sacraments, the act of trade.

Still distrustful of anything related to the ocean, Corran looks wistfully back at the island. I'm glad you see it that way, Terren. I'm sad to say that I see us paying the wolf to lead us to its den.

The Wizard shurgs, raising a point with Corran in an debative tone, 'You have the right of it, my friend. But think on it this way; where you to come upon a wolf who would speak with you, as those dinosaurs did, it very well may lead you away from it's more hungry brethren. Indeed, you may even see fit to bestow upon the wolf a token of your gratitude. This situation is much the same, for our final port is not of their lands, but of we landwalker's own. Worry not, Friend Corran, for the Sahuagin people profit much from being guides and profit little from making enemies of us land dwellers. I'm sure our guide to commerce, Terran could tell you more of their mindset.'

Placing a friendly, calming hand upon the young man's shoulder, the Wizard looks to the other more portly human cleric.

Terran beams ' Ah yes that is absolutely true, and if I might say that was an excellent extension of the analogy. This 'barter' system which we witnessed is only a half-step up from the old tribute systems of old. Really it is a mixture of the two. Way back when, the Hobgoblins had the orcs pay tribute so as not to invade. The Dhakanani Empire really invented commerce the way that it is situated now. Anyhow, the Sahuagin economy depends upon the commerce gained in this fashion. Indeed, it is only if sailors stopped paying that they would attack, for we would be threatening their livelihood."
