You should probably check out Survivors if you haven't already: a fine piece of PostApoc British sci-fi...set in England!

In that show, it was a bird flu pandemic that wiped out most of humanity- even the cultured & genteel folks of the countryside- and left a random sampling of humanity scrabbling to make it to the next day.

And no, not all the survivors were nice people. Not even the ones actively trying to rebuild society.

Bringing up Mad Max inspired gaming, there was a pair of computer games from the 80s Roadwar 2000 and Roadwar: Europa

Both very much in the design stylings of SSI's games of the period, but you moved cars around the board as part of a gang instead of people as part of an adventuring band.

Never finished either game, I just wanted to moved "cars" around a game and smash things . . . electronically!
