Magic Item Addictions

First Post
Everytime I create a level 10+ PC from scratch I always buy a Hewards Handy Haversack. I can fit in 2 halfling bodies if need be and a tent.
I always seem to buy one, even if I have a bag of holding strapped to the haversack, I always carry one! Its not even something I ponder "Do I need?" anymore, its something I just HAVE to carry.

I know a friend who, no matter what has a +1 Silver Dagger. Trademarked no less! Each bought from a store shorty after the other characters death.

Whats your vice, what magical item do you just have to have? A Ring of Sustenance? A Rod of Wonder? A Cloak of Performing +10?

Heward's Handy Haversack. Plus it HAS to be full of goodies--sunrods, tanglefoot bags, chalk, fishhooks, signal whistle, rope, grapple hooks, MW metal screw-together 10' poles, food, cheap magic items that produce water, a tent, a whetstone...

Ring of Sustenance, I love not having to worry about food and the fact that you can count 2 hours of sleep as 8 is always good, especially if you're playing a wizard.

I think you still need 8 hours of "rest" to get your spells, like an elf.

Side note: It's very stupid that the Elven trance thing is cool, but doesn't work if you are a wizard (the fvored class for Elf).

As for items, nothing. My DM is tight with loot, our party has thousands of gold that we can't spend because the world is a "no magic shop" kind of place. Doh!

As to the actual question, I tend to like the amenities, a Heward's handy haversack and a travel cloak provide. :)

HHH is a virtual must-have for lower-level characters, especially if they are created at that level. So is the portable hole for higher-levels (and the party tries to get at least one of these sooner or later)

I am aware of that. The benefit, though, is that you can read (although not spellbooks, obviously) while resting. It is a good way to catch up on the latest news in arcane breakthroughs, or whatever else.

A Heward's Haversack as well -- but it's not so much an addiction; it's more like NOT going camping without your tent or bedroll. You CAN do it, but can you afford NOT to?

At the rate our group buys them when available, I imagine there's some enterprising mage somewhere getting RICH off of those things... :)
