Magic of Faerun spell, battering ram.

In the spell battering ram, it says that it bull rushes like a large cretaure with a 25 Strength. Now, I know this will knock the person back at least 5 feet if successful, but the book doesn't specifically say that it will push him farther back than that. In the description of the bull rush attack action, it says that you have to keep moving and push the target along if you want to move him more than 5 feet. I would assume the spell does this, but a fellow DM wasn't so sure.

It's a 2nd level spell, and I think that a 2nd-level spell that does 1d6 points of damage at close range and can only knock the target back 5 feet is plain weak. If it does keep pushing, then on average it will knock a person back 16 feet (assuming both take 10).

On a related note, what are the rules if you bull rush someone and shove him into another person? Say that there are three guys in a row, and you bull rush into the first one and get a phenomenal result (the guy rolls a 1, you roll a 20, so you can shove him back 24 feet). Could you knock all three guys over? Do they make Reflex saves to dodge, or Strength checks to stop you?

Well, in the Bull Rush description, it also says that "First, you move into the defender's space."
Read directly from the book, neither Ring of Ram or the Battering-type spells can work at all!

The fellow DM you have there is being ridiculously tied to the exact description. It is obvious they intend that the spell (or Ring) can do exactly what a Bull Rush maneuver can do, substituting the force effect for "you" in the description.

edit: the spell says specifically "If the target is a creature, this attack initiates a Bull Rush."

There are no rules that I could find.

On my Wrestling Rules page, I've collected quite a few alteratives.

I'll edit in the one I took from someone else recently that addressed a situation similar to this.

I've ruled, in the past, that:

a) pushing someone into another creature of the same size, the second person has to make a B.R. check, with a +2 bonus to their check (because they can just push the original target back) If they fail their check, they have to make a Reflex save or be knocked over.

and

b) If someone is helping you to resist the push, they can use the "assist another" to give you a bonus to your check.

It's only happened once in a game, so those where just off the top of my head at the time.
