Magic Vestment

(How come you can't search these boards anymore since this has already been asked I'm sure?)

Magic Vestment lets you put an enhancement bonus on armor and/or shield.

Bonuses of the same name do not stack. So, normally, a +1 enhancement on the armor and a +1 enhancement on the shield would not stack.

But DM pg 176: "usually a named bonus does not stack with another bonus of the same name (except for enhancement bonuses to armor and shields...)"

So, since magic vestment is an enhancement bonus, you can cast it on your armor and your shield and have them stack. Yes?

The preceding is not true. The slightly tricky element one needs to understand is that enhancement bonuses increase the armor bonus -- they are not inherently added into a character's AC.

Therefore, yes, a magic vestment on both armor and a shield will effectively add together.

You may wish to see the following web page which discusses armor stacking issues -- Example #8 happens to mention this issue: www.superdan.net/dndfaq1.html
