Magical Trap CR Needed?

Aluvial

I need the CR for a spell that can occur repeatedly, when touched.

The spell effect will be Confusion.

Can someone help?

Umm, No Search, if you touch it it happens...

The Save is a Will of 20.

Confusion is 4th level spell.

The spell is by a 12th level caster.

No possibility for a search, even by a rogue?

What about the Disable Device DC?

I just don't see it anywhere. I don't think it has one.

If you touch this item, the spell goes off-period.

Perhaps it should have one, but I played it without and need to figure the xp's out.

Here's what I got so far, though I might not be doing this right...

Trigger: Touch - No CR modifier
Reset Type: Automatic - No CR modifier
Confusion: +4

CR 4 so far. Now, a Search DC of 30 or higher is +2 to CR, and if this one can't be found in a search check at all, then I guess a 4 would be appropriate. So...

No Search: +4

Now, a Disable Device DC of 30 or higher is also +2, so again, maybe another +4.

No Disable: +4

The trap would have a CR 12, but I wouldn't actually give any XP for this trap at all. Why? First of all, it can't be disabled. Secondly, nobody can even identify it for what it is. Basically, there is nothing to learn from this trap except "Be careful what you touch, even when it doesn't appear to be a trap at all, even to a diety".

My CR's may very well be wrong though, and I'm betting they are, but I still wouldn't give XP for the trap.

Don't CRs represent a challange that can be overcame?

Besides, I wanna know what kind've thing can let you install a spell into something that lets it cast it whenever you touch it

Belt Buckle of True Strike!

Excuse me, any NON-EVIL that touches the item the spell goes off....

Honestly, I wouldn't change the CR for this. Either it effects them or it doesn't. For example, if the party has 3 good characters and 1 evil character, the evil character shouldn't get XP because 1) he didn't disable it (it's impossible), 2) he didn't find it (it's impossible), and 3) it didn't even affect him.

Now what if they use their spellcraft to determine the effect that is already in place,

or a dispell magic to determine that it has a magical effect and then what power it might be?

They did both and got positive results, but ended up touching the thing anyway (they didn't figure out the school).

The spell effect went off and that was it.

They haven't touched it again even though the item has value.
