Yes, that’s true. It is different when your contribution is unique and you see with your own eyes the difference you make with your own hands. My job has elements of the latter (not at all the former) and I’m glad it’s a job with normal hours and pay, the fact that it’s a transaction protects me from the feeling that I should be doing more.

I guess that sounds like self-justification, and I'm sure you'd come up with a version of that if you had superpowers.

And, honestly, that's fine. It would be unreasonable to expect that of anybody. It's not like I do, either.

Anyway, taking it back to superheroes--a broken, depressed, exhausted, nihilistic superhero is no use to anybody! So that's your self-justification for taking "me" time.

I mean, I wouldn't want to set the wrong expectations. I love the film and it's great fun, but it's not a serious drama about those issues. It's Guardians of the Galaxy in tone and depth, with a side-order of the stopping war/social issues stuff. And some sharp commentary about social media bots/troll farms literally represented by an army of Lex Luthor's monkeys with electric hats banging away at keyboards to discredit Superman.

I don’t think I would last a day.

I could try to wear a disguise or maybe vibrate like the Flash to appear blurry. But my weakness is cookies and those are impossible to eat when you aren’t standing still.

(I imagine cookie shrapnel is dangerous.)

Yes, I’d have to come up with a justification, and I’m sure I would. I’d just have to do it solo, rather than with the support of society and my profession, so it might take me longer and I’d be quite stressed until I got it in place.
