Major promotion!

That is to say, I just got promoted to Major in the US Army. Which is great -- or will be when the pay raise kicks in -- although I'm so busy I barely have time to pop into EN World, let alone pick up and read some RPG material. Part and parcel of my new job meant a transfer away from my gaming group, and I haven't played since December, so the promotion isn't all upside. Gaming withdrawal sucks!

Congrats Olgar Shivestone.

So, does being a Major mean you have more soldiers you can order into playing games? ;)

Cheers!

Congrats on the promotion.

Yeah thats the ticket order them to play :D I can picture some sort of officers gaming club.

Be careful when you hit Iraq and in case no one has said it lately thanks for the doing job you do everyday.

One could only wish ... I'm holding down a staff job in combat developments right now, which means that while I get to play with a lot of new weapons and high-tech gadgets, I'm not in a unit with "real" soldiers (my section has a Captain, two NCOs, a DA civilian, and two contractors). When I was last in a troop unit, we had lots of gamers, but I didn't play -- the whole fraternization thing.

Thanks for the thoughts! I'm off to the airport to catch a flight to Stuttgart.

Congrats, Olgar!

Your gaming group misses you, and you know you have a group willing to let you run a game, or just play in one, any time.

Keep us posted, especially if you end up in the Middle East.

P.S. Crothian - I believe he is in Columbus, GA now, but it sounds like he will be all over the place. Great news for his career, but we had been holding out hope that once he got settled in Columbus he would occasionally be able to make the 2-hour trip to Atlanta to game.

Way to go! Now we can call you Major Olgar Shiverstone. :)

Really, that's a great accomplishment.

I hope you get to stay in one place long enough to enjoy your travels. You can always come back to Atlanta, you know. Seats for the next game are still available. ;)

(PS: I've been trying to devise a way to secret you back here, but this makes it even tougher)

Let us know, if you ship off to any where dangerous.

Take care,
