Malhavoc Press's Law/Chaos/Good/Evil charts

UltimaGabe

First Post
Hey everyone. I remember seeing in the Book of Hallowed Might there was a set of charts for seeing how Lawful, Chaotic, Good, or Evil a character was (scaling from 1-10 on each chart). Does anyone know if I could find this online anywhere, or if someone could send it to me?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Whoa, don't everyone jump up to reply at once, now.

Here, I'll jump up and give you the answer: it's not OGC. You'll have to dish out a whopping $6 to get it.

:D

For that one chart?

Come to think of it, you have to dish out quite a few bucks to get the Mind Flayer and the Yuan-Ti. You may have a point there...

Of course, it's up to the publisher.

If the chart was OGC and I had Monte's permission, I'd rewrite the charts to include examples at every level (Law, IIRC, has no examples for 7 or 8, and some of the other alignments have skipped numbers) and include several of the obvious variants on ways to use it. It could function quite nicely as an ad for the Book of Hallowed Might (especially since, with Monte's permission, I could reference the BoHM).

But, the way it stands the chart isn't OGC, and I won't be expanding it. Some people will buy the book just for the chart (sales that would be lost if Malhavoc OGC'd the chart); some people would be intrigued and buy the book (sales gained for Malhavoc). Of course, the choice is Monte Cook's, and he's made his choice.

How can a mechanic that is so clearly dervied out of OGC not be OGC?
Certainly the actual, printed, chart is not OGC (formatting and all), but the rules involved? This is an extension of OGC, and hence USES OGC (under the OGL terms), and hence MUST be released as OGC.
Would anyone be so kind as to post the OGC decleration of the Book of Hollowed Might?

I jut checked the designation of open content in The Book of Hallowed Might and all of chapter one, except for the alignment rules, is open content.

I don't know if that was intentional on Monte's part or an oversight, but there it is...

Oh, and here is the declaration:
Designation of Open Game Content: Subject to the Product Identity designation above, the following portions of The Book of Hallowed Might are designated as Open Game Content: the class advancement tables and Class Features in Chapters One and Two; the feats in their entirety in Chapter Three; the spell parameters (range, duration, etc.) and game mechanics in Chapter Four; the magic items and artifacts of Chapter Five in their entirety; the statistics and Combat text for the creatures in Chapter Six; and anything else contained herein which is already Open Game Content by virtue of appearing in the System Reference Document or some other Open Game Content source.
As I said, the alignment rules are in chapter 1. And it seems pretty clear that the alignment rules are not a class feature...

Edited to add open game content declaration...
