All joking aside, I can't imagine being a witness to this incident. Seeing someone beat this bird with their bare hands would have been extremely disturbing.

This line in the article caught my attention.

Why is it that cities seem to attract large numbers of the truly mentally screwed up? Clearly somebody has not received the proper scrutiny of Darwin, but I hear he's overworked these days.

Mostly because cities attract large numbers of people, and so either
1) statistically, more crazies, and more crazies-per-capita too since there's the infrastructure to support institutions (of any sort!),
2) hell is other people, and thus cities make you mad (explains me!),
3) The Dark Masters cluster around large sources of prey, picking and choosing their choice morsels of dream fragments, though shards, and motes of cohesion, leaving disassembled shambles behind to walk the streets, grim harbingers of the rising tide! Be warned, before it's too late! Look to the Sea, watch Them rise!

Or something. My money's on 3, personally.

Really its the population density and support infrastructure, people were never meant to form communities that large. So many people crammed into so small a space does make people go crazy because it's utterly unnatural. In rural areas you see far fewer so insane they can't function in society because their isn't really any support structure beyond family which has very limited resources.

But the Dark Masters probably have something to do with it. they're behind everything you know
