Marked By Destiny, Marked by Tragedy Part 2 (No Judge Yet)

Arvan looks on again, unsure of what he sees.

He takes a defensive action agains the oncoming horde as he attempts to see what is realy there.

OOC: Arvan attempts another will save (1d20+2=11) not sure if I get a bonus for someone else disbelieving (I seem to remember a +2 or something). If so, then he'll spend an action point, if not, he won't.
(OOC: Brelach failed on a 15--the Action Point is probably a waste on an 11 (guaranteed to be a waste at least 2/3 of the time if not more, since we don't know if the DC is higher than 16)

EDIT: Oh I see, adding the AP only if you also get a +2 :o)

Weapon is in the moment. He knew something was wrong somewhere, but magic was not his forte. Fighting was. Fighting was home. If fighting would free him, that is what he would do.

OOC: Weapon fights things. Lot less confusing. :)

Looking around the room, Sin decides that the ceiling is uneven, ranging from 15' high to 30' high, with an average height of about 20'. The cavern is large and (being underground) dark. To add confusion to this, the illusion is of an outside scene in full daylight, so most of the light that the characters percieve is anything but trustworthy.

The eldritch blast came from out of what Sin estimates would be an area of darkness. Sin can think of a lot of possible explanation. One of the most mundane is that somewhere in the darkness, their is a ladder leading to a ledge, and that her oponent has managed to climb up the ladder (move action) and fire an eldritch blast (standard action.) While that's not necesarilly exactly what happened, it's certainly a possibilty.

I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the main thing confusing Sin is that she didn't take into account that the Warlock might simply have moved outside of the area of shadowy illumination. She isn't necesarilly invisible or even hiding, and you don't get spot checks against an enemy with total concealment. As I recall, Sin does not have darkvision or even low light vision, correct?

A failed saving throw indicates that a character fails to notice something is amiss. A character faced with proof that an illusion isn’t real needs no saving throw. If any viewer successfully disbelieves an illusion and communicates this fact to others, each such viewer gains a saving throw with a +4 bonus.

Roll your Action point if you so desire. All party members can recieve the +4 bonus for any disbelief saves for the remainder of the encounter.

Edit: Err... wait a second. I don't think you can just declare you want another save. Let me look some stuff up.

Edit2: OK, the answers in the section I allready quoted. (Doh!) You can each make one additional save.

(OOC: Aha--you are correct sir. Oops! I had this big mental picture of the scene, and I thought that the whole area was illuminated (partially because we could see her at the beginning from what I assumed was the other side). Doesn't that mean that we can't see the Deneith troops due to lack of light? Is Sin now in shadowy illumination then, and almost in total darkness?

In that case, time for Dancing Lights. She can create them in the corner from which the blast emanated and send them on a journey of 100 feet if they're not close enough to the Warlock to begin with. She'll also move 30 feet into total darkness if she can--the Warlock won't know which square of darkness contains Sin and thus will have trouble aiming, but thanks to the dancing lights, everyone will see the Warlock (hopefully))

The illusion shows a pale blue sky in the area in question, if you believe it. I may be completely wrong on this, but at least for purposes of this one very strange encounter the illusion doesn't help to illuminate what's really there.

By the way, kudos on Dancing Lights. I always enjoy seeing an effective use of cantrips. :)

(OOC: I think they changed it in 3.5 and made the light illusion Evocation, though ironically, even though you would think a shadow is the least likely to cast light, a Shadow illusion (the kind that is partially real) can shed light! (how do I know this? Because you can Shadow Evocation to get the light spells).

As to Dancing Lights, thanks--I came to a realisation: it's a brief spell, so we're going to be screwed if this fight isn't over in 10 rounds or less thanks to the duration, but if it's not over by then, I figure we're dead (a Warlock in a position where she is going to remain unseen is a real killer, since that's a Flat-Footed Touch Attack :uhoh: ). Hopefully having the crazy little balls of light following her around will ruin the Warlock's day :)

So if the only real light source is our group's light, that means Alys is in total darkness now and the Warlock is in the light of the dancing lights? Sweeeet :])
