Marvel Movies

What I'd love for Blade 3 is if they'd do the (fairly) recent transformation into Switchblade... although they'd have to throw in all the other Midnight Sons (Morbius, Ghost Rider, King and Drake, Dr. Strange, etc) so that's very unlikely. But it would be so awesome to finally see on-screen someone like that, someone like what Rogue could be if she turned evil...

BTW, Switchblade was born when Blade received a part of the Darkhold and wished that there was a way to finally obliterate vampires and all supernatural influence from the world, and was rewarded by a transformation into a Demogorge... picture a beefed-up Blade with a nifty ability to permanently assimilate the powers of anyone he killed. By the time of his appearance in Morbius, he'd killed Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze (they're two seperate people now), Hannibal King, Modred, and Demogoblin. He had the ability to spontaneously conjure weapons from Demogoblin, full vampiric abilities from King, uber-magic from Modred, and I don't know what the heck Ghost Rider or Blaze do. So needless to say, he was pretty cool.

Although I'd also like if they threw in Frank Drake and Hannibal King, and completed the Nightstalkers. That could be sweet, particularly if they did the Nightstalkers vs. Varnae storyline...

Blade is a fun romp, although I haven't seen it's sequel.

On that sequel - if you know anything at all about biology, be prepared to cringe. If they had just stayed with saying that vampires were "magic", they'd have been fine. But they lay down a whole lot of really horrible technobabble to justify things. It's sad...

I'll go with Blade, because the others I can't muster a whole lot of interest in seeing aagain after the first viewing.

Do you mean that you saw them and found they didn't interest you, or that you have no interest in seeing them? That wording confused me.

That's because it wasn't a terribly successful comic. IIRC, Blade started as a secondary character in Tomb of Dracula, during Marvel's 70's monster mash phase. He was one step removed from the Rocket Racer, at that point. (Bonus points if you even know who that is....:)).

Arrg! I recognize that name...just...can't...bah! I give...:)
And I just realized what I want to see...a Dr. Strange movie. I love that guy.

It's a frightning thought that Hollywood may now be handling comic-book characters and properties with more dignity and respect than the publishers themselves.

Ah, Tomb of Dracula... Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan. That was some really good stuff. And it was a great treat to see them all turn up in Dr. Strange, years later, to battle Dracula one last time.

It is, isn't it? But that said, the complete Nightstalkers showing up in the next film would be easily done and in fact, I can see them doing it.

Oh yeah, Dormammu on-screen would look purtty cool. I'd like to see Mephisto in a flick, as well. But he was Silver Surfer, not Dr. Strange, wasn't he?

I think DC's biggest problem right now when it comes to movies is the fact they are trying to recreate both the Batman and Superman movie franchises. They both had 2 really good movies (Superman and Superman 2, Batman and Batman Retuns) and now should try focusing on other characters. DC has tons of other characters to pick from. I think the Flash would make an excellent movie. As would Firestorm and so many other characters.

Marvel seems more willing to branch out with other characters. I know there are rumors of a Iron Fist movie, a Fantastic Four, a Punisher, an Iron man and a few others. They aren't sticking with just a couple characters.

Well just needed to ramble on that for a moment. :)
Personally, DC Comics should try to recreate the two franchises as they have been the main iconic superheroes associated with the popularity of DC. Much the same way that Spider-Man is to Marvel.

Of course, Marvel Comics are more popular because of Stan Lee's approach to storytelling. He made certain that every character have a flaw that other people can relate to. For example, Tony Stark, who became Iron Man mainly because of his heart problem, who also turns to alcohol and sometimes corporate greed. For Peter Parker, it's girl problem.

Now, some of the DC-based shows are doing the same thing. Up until now, I thought that Clark Kent grew up to be a clean-cut kid who never get in trouble, a true Boy Scout without wearing the khaki uniform, shorts, and red kerchief. Now, in Smallville, he blew up the cellar (or rather his ship but he was the catalyst) which resulted in the death of his unborn sibling and heartache to his adoptive parents, and is now running away from all the problems, and just when he finally got Lana, he runs away from her. Oh, and he's hopped up on that red kryptonite he's wearing on his finger while driving on his Hog.
