And, depending on starting and ending location, faster unless you have a good coast to coast system. I considered taking a train out to meet my wife physically the first time I did (the distance was Los Angeles, CA to Austen, TX) because, being both acrophobic and claustrophobic, flying is not my favorite thing, and it just wasn't practical even though there are routes that would work; even driving would have been faster, had I a car at that time which I thought was going to tolerate the trip well.
We have a pretty good commuter rail system in the Province of Ontario called GO Transit. There's a station 5 minutes from my house and the train runs to a station that's about a 20 minute walk from work. It starts running after I normally get to work. It has reliability issues in winter, due to frozen switches. The cost is within a buck or two a day of driving my own car, including parking costs. I've been driving in to work for 20 years now (first 5 were on the train).

I'm unsurprised that just mentioning She-Hulk online would result in at least a couple of guys needing to list everything they didn't like about the show. Par for the course and all that.
????

It's a really good show. They just messed up a couple of relatively minor things up that detracted from it. Implying this is some kind of sexist thing is both rude and frankly shows you didn't bother to read any of the words in either post, and ironically just came out with your own knee-jerk response without considering the context, exactly what you were complaining about! Incredible really!

Also do you really think there's any MCU show I wouldn't list the flaws of lol? She Hulk honestly has some of the least for my money, I just genuinely didn't like that they portrayed her as a bad lawyer for some reason. Like, why do that? The worst remains The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, despite some charisma and chemistry from the leads, but I think most of the issues with that come down to being shot deeper in the pandemic and someone high-up in Marvel (probably the Feige himself) deciding to make them do a bunch of re-writes and re-shoots to try and make the antagonists less sympathetic and the protagonists more heroic and less conflicted (which didn't really work out, and mess with the pacing and plotting of the show pretty badly).

I need to rewatch it. Maybe she was a corporate/contract lawyer who got tossed into a position as solicitor, because of the advertising potential? IDK.

iirc, she got put into her position for the advertising, like when a firm puts a former government worker in their name

Also Disney needs to hire someone whose only job is to care about word choice as this thread demonstrates.

Presumably you mean a barrister/trial lawyer rather an a solicitor? A corporate/contract lawyer in Commonwealth legal systems would typically be a solicitor (I work with an awful lot of them!).

But the actual plot of the show is kind of the reverse - she's supposed to be a competent state prosecutor - a deputy district AG in fact! Who is very much a trial lawyer. And then goes to join this corporate law firm as a "superhero specialist" - which is going to be a less demanding and stressful position, frankly, considerably better remunerated, better hours, and more support staff at your beck and call (even for a mascot - law firms do sometimes essentially have these, but they make sure they support them well to avoid being made to look bad). The show does weirdly make it so the corporate law firm seems to provide weak support for Jen, which isn't very plausible but still.

I think it really comes down to the show seeking to characterise Jen as "messy" personality-wise (which is very relatable and humanizing, sure), but it doesn't really land for me, because they could have made her a deadly wit in court, and messy in her personal/superhero life just fine - it's not like they're short of examples! That describes basically MOST lawyer shows! Certainly LA Law, The Good X shows, Damages, Ally McBeal, etc. etc. etc.!

If they get another season at some point (which seems unlikely, sadly), hopefully they can make her hit as hard in court as she does outside of it!

She's already a deputy district AG in LA, which is not a position an incompetent or inexperienced lawyer is particularly likely to have.

Sorry, you are correct. Incorrect term used.

We don't have trains like Europe has trains. I wish we did. We toured from London to Stockholm last summer using trains all the way, and it was fantastic.
There's a reason why one of the first suggestions that's made to anyone going to visit Europe is a Eurail Pass.

But, the idea that no Russian would ever use the word 'big' to describe America is still baffling to me.
America being big, only goes to emphasise that Russia is HUGE.
Exactly. Being smaller than Russia still leaves a lot of options for being a huge country.

On top of that, the US uses miles instead of km. Around here, 200km are a matter of an hour and half, mybe two with traffic. In the US 200 mi feels like something only my grandkids will live to see.

Rationally, I get it, but emotionally driving in the US always felt exhausting...

The. Numbers. Just. Never. Go. Down.

Driving north to south in Ohio, the State that never ends.
