Master Thrower Question: Do these Thrown Weapon Tricks work together?

DragonShadow

First Post
Sneaky Shot has in the description that it requires a move-equivalent action, however Palm Throw merely states that the Master Thrower can throw two weapons instead of one with his attack roll.

Sneaky Shot and Palm Throw I can see being used together, but the real question is whether or not -both- Sneaky Shot and Palm Throw can be used in conjunction with Weak Spot.

Basically, the MT's round would come out like this:

-Spend a move equivalent action to use Sneaky Shot. Make the Sleight of Hand check opposed by opponents Spot check to possibly deny target of it's Dex bonus to AC.
-Palm Throw 2 darts with one attack roll, neither dart has a strength modifier applied to its damage roll.
-Aim for a Weak Spot, thus making the attack roll a ranged touch attack, and due to the Dex having been lost to AC, the target's AC is 10 + Deflection + Misc

Does that sound logically sound to everybody else or am I aiming too high? (Yeah...I guess you could say that the pun was intended.)

Sounds fine... Especially since this isn't an especially powerful PrC anyway.

What annoys me is that the "Sneak Shot" ability is essentially the same thing as a Feint (except done with a ranged weapon), so there's no reason why it shouldn't be opposed by BAB+Spot, to stay consistent with the 3.5 rules.

You know... I AM your DM... you really should ask me and if you don't agree, we'll THEN have an argument on the forums :).

Yep, that's how it is.

Would Palm Throw grant precision based damage (eg Sneak Attack) for both darts?

I know Manyshot specifically states that precision based damage (and critical damage) only apply to the first arrow, but both use the same attack roll. Is Palm Throw different?

Palm Throw omits that restriction, but it SHOULD be there, IMO. Why WOTC did away entirely with the Volley rules in the revision, I simply do NOT know. 8P

I thought the FAQ covered this, sneak attack dmg only applies per attack roll? Something about shuriken brokeness in 3.0... :p

~.^ You're -one- of my DM's, and only for this current game. I'm asking for future reference and all time.

I thought it was right though, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks peoples.

Except that the entire premise is that you're pulling something out that was previously hidden and then throwing it post-haste. It doesn't include the targets BAB because they have no way of seeing it coming until it's actually being thrown.

o.O At least...that's my take on the roleplay reason for it, and it shouldn't technically continue to work, but that's the way D&D goes for ya. :]

Multiple "sneak" attacks by any rogue proves that stealth and feinting in D&D isn't all its cracked up to be. ~.^
