Hey all!
Long time lurker finally getting around to posting a question of his own...
I'm asking for help in coming up with ideas for optimal shapes to choose for a variation on the Master Transmogrifist Prestige Class that my DM is prepping for my 7th level Wizard.
I say variation because everything this guy runs is based on 3.0 D&D, but heavily tweaked with his own 'insights' to make it 'more balanced'. I'm OK with that. If I weren't, I'd leave, but it means I have to be careful in making choices. I posted a similar question on rpg.net, but the responses so far have been focussing on the DM's style, which I want to avoid.
In any case, though he hasn't finshed 'tweaking' the Master Transmogrifist to his liking, he's giving me some input, and has let me know he's changing Favored Shape somewhat.
-First, once I choose a shape, I have to keep it - no swapping between levels.
-Second, I don't get the first shape until 2nd MT level, but get them more regularly after that, so that by 10th MT level, I have seven, just like in a regular MT progression.
-Third, he's upping the power of the 10th level to allow me to add the favored shape Supernatural and Spell-like abilities when in that form (or using Inifinte Variety), not just the extraordinary abilities. That's a pretty big power boost, and probably worth the other trade offs, however...
Not being able to swap out forms means I have to be very careful which one's I choose each time, hence the call for suggestions and ideas. Plus he insists we sketch out two or three levels in advance what we are planning to pick up, so I need to start thinking in the long term.
It's been awhile since I've played straight D&D, and I have not been relying much on the books, since things can be so different in his game, so I'm rusty on which might be the best creatures to choose. Help!
Thanks in advance,
Jack
