I just created a new dwarven fighter for an online game and have given her four ranks in craft (weaponsmithing). And now I'm wondering, is it possible to create masterwork stone weapons? I ask because if it were then my character would then be eligible to benefit from the +2 bonus to crafting stone items. Does anyone have any homebrew rules on this or know of an official answer?
Here's what I do. I use stone weapons for monsters such as trolls and trogs.
Stone versions can be made for all "mass" weapons (including maces, hammers, warhammers, and axes)
Cost: 1/2 normal cost
Damage: Same as normal weapon
Critical: becomes 20/x2 if not already
Weight: Same as normal weapon
Type: becomes Bludgeoning if not already.
Hardness: 5
Hit Points (small, medium-sized, large): 2,5,10
The net result is that some weapons, like maces, work just as well if made from stone. All other weapons get a drop in their critical range which makes them more or less equivalent to maces.

Oh. I just realized that I need to update these rules for 3.5. Its on my to-do list.
