Matrix - a new theory?

A question I have is: Was Smith foreseen? He should have been because it seems that Neo's death was foreseen. If they can predict the death of the strike team and Trinity sitting things out until then, Smith should have been small potatoes.
I would imagine that this was predicted - I mean, this can't be the first time the One "killed" an Agent.

Maybe Smith is the reason the Matrix needs to be rebooted. It's "angel of death" as it were. Of course, there is a sort of apocalyptic "beast with seven heads" feel to Smith's replicating.
An interesting theory. Neo's code destroys the Smiths, kind of like an anti-virus.

One point of contention - there's NO evidence there were six other trinities. In fact, it's strongly suggested that Trinity is the first Trinity - the Architect states that with Neo #6, they added a specific love interest instead of just a love of humanity.

I'm not so sure they added her to the equation, but she's definitely newly added, at least The One's feelings for an individual instead of humanity as a whole.

I don’t believe that he was foreseen, because Neo should have rebooted the matrix after his talk with the Architect and the previews for Revolutions give the impression that Neo is the only one capable of dealing with him (he says it out right, but we can’t know if that’s true). We do know that programs can survive the reboot, but not for sure how or why (i.e. because they’re needed to maintain the system of control, or just aren’t affected).

Anyone else see the rebooting simply as a measure to clean out the malcontents?

Which would explain the Humanity is a Virus monologue from the first movie. And watching M2 I did get the notion that Smith was suppose to be a Virus speading through the system

Now what if everytime the Matrix is rebooted the rogue programmes are shunted into the real world and become humans in Zion!

What if the Oracle is NOT the 'Mother of the Matrix' as Neo thought (the Architect seemed dismissive of that conclusion) but wants to become human!

A big freakin' hard drive.

My theory about The Matrix is that the premise laid out in the first movie is neither clever enough nor interesting enough to sustain a trilogy. After being thoroughly underwhelmed by the second Matrix movie, I think my theory might just hold water.

:D
