D&D 5E Matt Click joins the D&D team as a freelance editor!

Dont know & don't care who he is or what his qualifications are.
But let's make sure he gets the same amount of <crap> as whats-her-name got.
In fact? Let's make this the standard way of congratulating all new WoTC employees!

WoTC has a blurb on their job postings about being an affirmative action employer. So how do we REALLY know he wasn’t hired over a more qualified person just because of his gender? Or name? Hiring people named Matt just because of their name is unfair to all of us not named Matt

As someone who banged the drums welcoming both Kate and Matt I feel I'm in a good position to suggest something else just as rational.

How about we either agree to not create the same cesspool of a thread twice or just lock this now and avoid the problem altogether?

Be well

Don't you see how stupid this sounds? The whole reason some people attacked the other new employee was because of a perceived lack of experience. This person doesn't lack experience and is therefore not subject to the same attacks.

And it's a freelance position as well.

No, the "whole reason" people attacked were wasn't just because experience. You clearly didn't bother to read...well...any of that thread if that was your impression.

That took some wilful denial.

"Perceived" being the operative word, because it certainly wasn't for lack of actual experience.

Now, I wonder what might have led some people to such a false perception...

I'm guessing it wasn't the elf ears.
